Hyundai Elantra Touring

I hope it isn't a repost, Hyundai showed a Touring version of the Elantra at the Montreal auto show

Re: Hyundai Elantra Touring

Hmmm....Hyundai introduces a wagon as GM kills off another.....GM isn't giving me much choice here!

Re: Hyundai Elantra Touring

This isn't really new. It is just an extended version of the Korea and Euro only i30 of Hyundai. I guess they got lazy and decided to bring the 5-door version of the i30 into the US and re-badge it as an Elantra wagon. Bad move.

Not as bad as GM killing the G8 wagon however, even worse move

Isn't that an I30 from the European market? I really like that interior, GM can really learn a thing or two here.

Re: Hyundai Elantra Touring

Typically ugly for Hyundai, though not as ugly as the current Elantra sedan. Only the Tiburon and the new Santa Fe come close to being moderately attractive.

Re: Hyundai Elantra Touring

Well, personally, I think Sante Fe is far from being attractive either. It looks something like bloated face that has terribly gone wrong. I prefer the older ones in styling. I may be the only one.

Not too bad if it's fully loaded for around twenty. Or they can keep it.

Whoa! That's really nice. Why call it Elantra Touring though? It looks nothing like an Elantra.

Hyundai sales figures will be Elantra sedan + Elantra Touring = higher sales numbers.
That's a big part why it's sometimes the Toyota Corolla Matrix (and Camry Solara). And those don't look like their sedan counterparts either.

Re: Hyundai Elantra Touring

It's the so-so i30 put through the blanderizer and stretcher, but still pay attention to it - Hyundai's new compacts (the ultra-neato Kia Cee'd and the ugh i30) have really bridged the quality gap in every way. When compared in reviews to the new Corolla/Auris, they are given the upper hand - not only because they actually DO have an all-new platform, larger than anything in the compact class, but also because the interiors are indeed polished in terms of materials, design and assembly. Handling and power delivery are also there, unlike in previous Hyundais.

The Elantra sedan is still the worst-looking car currently available in a developed economy...

I have a 2002 and like it a lot and would have thought about buying a new one when I sell mine but I just don't like the new one.

Re: Hyundai Elantra Touring

From a person who not only actually admits to liking the old one, but even buying one and wanting another, this speaks volumes. Hyundai, get a stylist!
