Hyundai customers say 'no' to Stern & Sirius
Hyundai customers say 'no' to Stern?
Report: Automaker's customers don't want Sirius because they don't want to listen to the shock jock. May 13, 2005: 2:32 PM EDT NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - A surprising number of Hyundai customers said they didn't want Sirius Satellite Radio installed in their vehicles because they objected to Howard Stern, according to an auto news Web site. The so-called "shock jock" will broadcast on Sirius (up $0.08 to $5.33) Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. beginning in January 2006, said Inside Line, an online news source that is part of Edmunds.com. Edmunds.com is a partner in CNN.com's automotive news and information channels. Hyundai recently surveyed 300 to 400 customers as it was deciding whether to choose XM (down $0.09 to $28.15) or Sirius Satellite Radio in as an option for its vehicles. Hyundai ultimately decided to go with XM. The automaker will roll out a fall program that offers 90 days of free satellite radio programming with its new models, starting with the Santa Fe SUV, and the Sonata and Azera sedans, according to Edmunds. John Krafcik, Hyundai vice president of product development and strategic planning, told Inside Line that executives were stunned by the number of "unprompted write-ins" on the survey that said customers were "not comfortable with programming from Stern." Other automakers, like DaimlerChrysler (up $0.68 to $40.09), still install the Sirius system. Link ![]() |

Don't want to listen to him? Don't turn to his station. Problem solved.

Re: Hyundai customers say 'no' to Stern & Sirius
Personally I'm glad he went to sirius so my local radio station doesn't play him anymore.
In general I hate "radio personalities". Give me music, thats what the radio is for, not hearing idiots blow hot air. My local alternative station had these idiots on in the morning but about a year and a half ago they played the audio of the hostage being killed by the Iraqis. They dropped him faster then a lead ballon. It worked out perfect for me though because they completely revamped the station with listener opionions and now they play music in the morning. The sole idea behind the piece of news that initiated this thread is completely idiotic. Those who like Howard tune him in, those who don't well... don't. That whole idea of boycotting a whole corporation or brand or whatever just because you don't like what they do seems completely stupid and is against every notion of freedom I know. I was merely trying to be controversial but you saw through me very easily. Wery retarded indeed. ![]() BTW I am one that will be tuning in. |

I am one who is pissed that Howard expects me to pay for Sirius to keep listening to him. Bye bye, Howie.

Re: Hyundai customers say 'no' to Stern & Sirius
It seems odd to me how the same people who say "if you don't like Howard, don't listen to him" are the same people rolling their eyes at the Hyundai customers who don't take Sirius because of him. It seems to me as if the Hyundai customers are essentially following that advice, although they're refusing to listen to Sirius in general, not just Howard Stern. Why should Hyundai customers be scorned because they don't want their money winding up in the pockets of someone they object to?
