Quote:
Kalmesh Shah moved to England from India in 2004, and started working for Honda six months after he arrived. Although he was put on a number of production lines without training, that wasn't the real problem. The real issue was that his supervisor abused him, calling him an "expletive" Indian, and he was bullied and refused toilet breaks. Re: Honda Ordered to Pay Out in Racism Lawsuit

A lot of immigrants are taken advantage of because of their visa status. At least in the U.S. I knew a Japanese guy who put up with unpaid overtime until 10 or 11 at night every day, often including weekends because his Japanese employer knew it was his only way to remain employed in the US given his very poor English skills. And keeping him working all the time ensured he was unable to look for a job elsewhere even if he wanted to take the risk that some other employer would sponsor his work visa.
