Honda Crossroad headed to the US?

Quote:
Temple of VTEC has received word that the recently launched Crossroad is headed to the US. It is still a rumour, but as how the Crossroad was received positively in both its domestic market, Japan, AND the US, it wouldn't be surprising if soon, we see Crossroads in our local Honda dealerships. Here's what TOV had to say of this.

What makes that news more interesting is that we've just received word that this vehicle is actually headed to the US, said to slot into Honda's lineup between the CR-V and Pilot. With 7-passenger seating capacity stuffed into rather diminutive packaging, it will be interesting to see how it is priced and if Honda will spec a different motor and interior grade for our market, as it was our understanding that this vehicle is actually positioned beneath the CR-V in Japan, which in its latest incarnation has moved somewhat upscale.

The Crossroad interior photos certainly show a more spartan atmosphere than the quasi-lux trappings of the '07 CR-V. The Crossroad is currently being offered in the Japanese market with the choice of 140ps R18 or 150ps R20 motor driving either the front wheels or all four of them via Honda's RealTime AWD system.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you would rather see the Stream imported than this? I know I would.

It would be Honda's best move by far if it happens.

Re: Honda Crossroad headed to the US?

It says on that site that this will be positioned below the CRV. It sucks that they're bringing this vehicle instead of the attractive Honda Stream.

Looks like a larger Element SC -

So...in sizes smaller to larger:

Element
CR-V
Crossroad
Pilot

Re: Honda Crossroad headed to the US?

Here are some photos of the Crossroad. The Stream is so much more attractive and sleek looking and it serves a similar function. But instead we get the offspring of the Ridgeline and Element.

Re: Honda Crossroad headed to the US?

The Crossroad should replace the N.A.-only Element so the Japanese lineup and the American lineup can be more in sync. It may cut down on costs and maybe we will get a higher quality car out of the deal.

That makes sense. The Crossroad seems similar enough to the Element. Do you think they'll bring the Stream as well?

Re: Honda Crossroad headed to the US?

This IS actually the JDM equivalent to the Element, it replaces the HR-V, which was Honda's smallest "crossover", sharing platform with the Logo, the predecessor of the Jazz/Fit.

I like the Crossroad a lot, name included, much more than the forgettably bland and slightly ill-proportioned Stream. But in the US, bland and awfully ugly sells, which is why you get the Element and possibly Stream.

PS. Honda is really pushing it when it comes to getting away with cheapish and dated interiors. First the CRV and now that...

I don't see why not. The Stream is a wagon, so it would just fill the void left behind by the Accord Wagon. Honda could freshen up its lineup a whole lot by bringing over both the Crossroad and the Stream.

In the near future, U.S. Honda might have:

Civic (pretty new)
CR-V (pretty new)
2nd gen Fit/Jazz (brand new)
Accord (brand new)
Stream (brand new)
Crossroad as 2nd gen Element? (brand new)

The lingering old products would be:
Odyssey
Ridgeline
Pilot

All of three which I think will be replaced or refreshed all together since they are based on pretty much the same platform.

Re: Honda Crossroad headed to the US?

It would only make sense for Honda to bring this to the U.S. if they axed the Element. I think they would be just competing with CR-V and Element buyers. Otherwise they would have either two small SUV's or two mid-size SUV's depending on how the Crossroad would be classified.

Huh? The CRV has the best quality interior in it's segment. Have you been in one Bravada? I checked one out a few weeks ago and there's nothing cheap about it. Materials, gauges, electronics, knobs, switches and dials, fit and finish....it's all first rate.

Re: Honda Crossroad headed to the US?

Though I agree with you Bravada, I would think that it would be very likely that the Stream will make it here soon. After all, with the Mazda5 in NA and with the rumour that the S-MAX might be in NA as well, might as well have Honda bring in the Stream.

There is a pic floating around somewhere showing crossroad with third row seat. It seems very versatile. Also, Unlike element no C pillar obstructing the view from second row seat.
