Honda axes the Acura RSX

http://vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=543950

Quote:
# RSX We don't like bearing bad news but we've been telling folks for quite a while that the RSX/Integra program was essentially dead. Early indications had been that '06 would be the last year for the RSX and Integra, but we felt that the possibility existed that the car could soldier on if sales warranted. But the key was that there was no development work being done on a true successor to the RSX. Now it's official. In a communique that just breezed across the Acura Interactive Network, **************** Colliver has officially announced "In our quest to provide you and our customers with the very best and most appropriate Acura models, we have decided to eliminate the RSX from the 2007 line-up, thus streamlining our product offering to better fit with Acura’s evolving and more upscale image." It's a shame we never got the chance to buy a DC5 Type R over here.

Smart move. It really tarnished the look of Acura I thought. MB needs to take note and drop their C-Class coupe thing. ITs pretty terrible and doesn't deserve the name of Mercedes.

Wow, I thought the RSX was near the top of the board in it's league. A pity if it's not replaced in some manner.

I'm curious what that guy's first name was that was zapped by the overly aggressive filter.

First of all,Acura name means completely nothing in automotive history, secondly Mercedes sells many cars all over the world that look much worse than the C-Class coupe and it hasn't ruined Mercedes image.

I will miss those RSXs/Integras. But at least the Honda S2000 will be around for a little while longer.

Not needed any more. The old Integra and last-gen RSX were big on the small car tuner crowd, which, thank God, most have outgrown. Yawn.

Demographically, the early twenty-somethings are finally earning some money (though you'd never know it in GMI) and moving on up. The younger ones want stuff like the Fit, Versa, etc.

don't forgot then others cars had arrived on the market to compete like the Subaru WRX, Mitsubishi EVO and Dodge SRT-4 even if they had 4-doors for the ratio price-performance, they seems to offer a good band for the buck.

Not a very big loss in my opinion.

I disagree. the young ones are slapping chromes and huge rims on their cars, just like their heros on BET and MTV

Re: Honda axes the Acura RSX

Well, not much to cry about, but why didn't Honda just relegate the Integra back to Honda lineup - it's much nicer than the current blob Honda Civic coupe.

OMG, is that the dashboard?

Now, Honda and GM could've struck a good deal here - here's a perfect compact Pontiac

I don't know what you have against the C-Klasse hatch. Contrary to e.g. first BMW Compact, it has all the stuff common with the regular C-Klasse, and it has a very attractive shape. I would gladly have one if somebody paid for servicing I take it that you prefer the A-Klasse?
