Honda Accord best selling vehicle in march

http://www.autoobserver.com/2008/04/...d-be.html#more

So much for those who stated its styling would get in the way of sales.............In person and on the street the design really looks nice.........upscale even (which is what Honda was trying to achieve.)

I agree, on the road the Accord is likely the best looking car in it's class, perhaps second only to the Altima.

The Malibu has a long ways to go. They need promote the new fuel economy for the I-4. Anyway, go Silverado! Didn't expect that one to do so well. Put the 2-mode in it and you got a bigger winner.

Man, look at that 4 speed OHV engine Impala fly off the lots.
Now that is amazing.
There's the target domestic vehicle - large, roomy, front wheel drive, at $20K.
Imagine what that would be like with a six-speed and an even more fuel-efficient engine.
I guess we will find out next year.

I still don't like the Accord. It's attractive in some lights and simply hideous in others. You look and want to look away. It's a weird feeling. But I'd rather have an Accord over a Camry, though I prefer the Malibu's styling overall.

I did notice that the Tundra's first quarter sales mean they'll hit about 164,000 units this year. Not good compared to their target.

I saw an Accord coupe the other day and I really liked it.

Re: Honda Accord best selling vehicle in march

There is inevitably going to be confusion about all this as many times - more normally the entire F series is lumped together - as are typically the other fullsize pick up lines.

I like what Edmunds is doing to break numbers out - its better for certain purposes but it is slightly 'unusual given how many sources report in the general media'. Actually its really an older school count method that used to be the most common.

As usual, AutoData Corp. still lets/combines Toyota Corolla/Matrix and Camry/Solara.

You know, it would be interesting to take this list and bust out strictly 4dr. Sedans........look at that Impala number....possibly/probably outsold the Accord 4door - Edmunds includes the Accord Cpe in the Accord numbers which is legit from a model name point of view ie its yet another way to do a count.

Also hidden in plain sight is just how badly the new Corolla is doing.

Re: Honda Accord best selling vehicle in march

The Accord looks nice on the road, especially the mid-to-upper trim levels. The coupe is beautiful, period.

There are some icky angles, but the Malibu has a bloated side angle that I don't like. Love the back end and front end though.

Still, I hate the interior of the Accord. The exterior is pretty nice, but.

Yep.

I don't have the powertrain code handy but as the 2.4L/6AT comes on stream for Malibu and later the Aura thats when the Camry will start to tumble for sure if it hasn't already. Now throw the Impala , the 09 Milan/Fusion, and all the other - including things like Acura's TSX Turbo Diesel.........

Re: Honda Accord best selling vehicle in march

As long as the Camry falls from its mighty throne. Never understood how it was better then the Accord in the first place. Also, GM can't build enough Malibu's to compete. Pobably better that way too, make sure they sell everyone they build, wait to establish a name and a following, then maybe for the next gen or after they can look at a third plant to boost production.

Wow, I can't understand the enthusiasm for the Accord sedan (the coupe is nice, the best Accord coupe yet IMHO). But the sedan...bland from the front, awkward from the side with awful overhangs and just an absolute mess in the back. I think the last-gen Accord was much, much better looking. To each his own I guess, and Honda has already demonstrated that their cars will sell no matter what they look like.

Isn't a lot of the current Impala sales to fleets?

Impala sales next year (or whenever they introduce the new one) will probably drop. But hopefully it will be more retail sales and fewer fleet sales.

ffs, wake up people, half of Impala sales is to fleet, while Accord sales to fleet is about 1% from total.

Probably/ most definitely fleet sales make up a piece of Impala's numbers and thats an important part of the story.

Thing is, in a market like this fleet sales are in a very real sense of more value than when the markets humming along strongly on the retail side.

The title here ie 'Best selling vehicle' is a loose kinda' term , which means it can be legitimately interpreted any number of ways.

50%? I've heard from 20 to 75% on this forum...
2007:

Chevrolet Impala - 53.9% sales to fleet
Chevrolet Malibu - 58.8%

Toyota Avalon - 15.3%
Toyota Camry - 7.7%
