Just in time for the winter season, which isn't far off (I work in retail), and it's still July!

Re: GM fights back....

What was the point of using a 4x4 Tundra (non TRD Off-Road too) and not engaging the 4WD system? Seems a little fishy.

I also don't believe those tires are mud and snow rated on the Tundra either.

The Chevy isn't a Z71 and they both have limited slip differentials, seems pretty fair to me.

The main problem I have is due to the heavy cutting during the Silvy part, you can't really tell if it's in 4WD or not. They should've used 2WD models for both.

I doubt the Tundra would be stuck in 4WD.

Anyway, I do like the auto locker feature on the Silverado.

Re: GM fights back....

believe me the silverado was in 2 wheel drive.

ive seen that done in real life, that diff is a nice piece.

they have compared the silverado 2 wheel drive to a ford f 250 before with 4 wheel drive, they had them on a hill with rollers under the tires, the 250 couldnt get up, the silverado spun for a couple seconds then the diff locked in, and it went up with no problem

Huh? You don't HAVE to have a Z71 to have the G80 locker...My truck has one and it has the Z60 suspension.

Because they were not illustrating any 4x4 features, they were illustrating the advantages of a rear locker.

If the advantages could be gained from turning on the 4x4 then I would say that they shouldve. If it can manage the same than its still worth comparing. if it was on the base model they should activated it, and if it wasnt, then whyd they get a 4x4 model? it just doesnt add up. So if they are playing fair then that wasnt really a 4x4 or it really couldnt do it anyways.

Re: GM fights back....

I find that full sized trucks are too large to seriously off-road. Something like the Tacoma is much more suitable with a shorter wheelbase. But an FJ or a Jeep would still be even more preferable then.

If the Silvy could do that in 2WD w/ auto locker and the Tundra had to be in 4WD, it'd still be an advantage.
