If we are talking optional motors, then, again the pony cars have the V8 which really isn't a fair comparison for the Genesis, but since you mentioned the V6 its only fair that its compared against the optional motors for the Pony cars. I guess if Hyundai is after the domestic buyers, then it appears they brought a Knife to a gun fight, but realistically I think Hyundai is after the 350Z and G37 buyers.
You can get the V6 with 306 horsepower and respectable acceleration for $26,000. That undercuts all of the competing V8s, and the Mustang GT is heavier but only slightly more powerful. That's in Hyundai's favor, until you get into Camaro and Challenger V8 territory.

And you can get a Camaro with 304HP and decent acceleration for $22,000 which undercuts the price on the Genesis. The Mustang GT may only have marginally better HP, but the torque on the Hyundai V6 is 266lb/ft which is down about 60lb/ft which is a considerable ammount.

But you lose IRS in the process with the Mustang. And the GT starts at $27k...

Only thing....with the way the market is, you can probably get a new Mustang GT for $23k...

Not really, considering GP08's history of posts.

They already have.

Keep in mind that Hyundai kept the 4-banger set-up pretty basic for the tuners.

With the exception of the rounded bottom to the rear windows, I really like this car.

Well considering you've been here for one month...I didn't expect that kind of harsh put down. Can assume you used to go by another screen name, and have recently created a new one? Maybe a long time lurker? Either way no skin off my back....I said my piece. lol

I have hated that same thing since this Hyundai was just a drawing. Maybe it'll look better in person. But I don't like it at all.

But you also must consider that the Hemi-powered Challenger R/T has not tested any quicker than the outgoing Mustang GT (low 5's to 60), meanwhile the V6 370Z has been a bit quicker than both (high 4's to five flat)...and presumably the new 'Stang will be slightly quicker than the old one...point being, V6 vs. V8 and hp ratings do not necessarily tell the whole story. It will get interesting when real-world acceleration numbers are available for the Genesis coupe and Camaro.

Re: Genesis Coupe starts at $22,000.

I really like this car's size and driving position. Some elements of it's styling are odd to me though. And the interior materials look decent, but feel cheap - especially the leather on the steering wheel.

I think they'll sell great though, based on it's number of affordable packages and right size.

I didn't like it initially but I have gotten used to the outside look and from the inside it provides a fairly significant visibility benefit. It kinda get's rid of the typical bulky C-pillar blocked view that a lot of coupes have. I never thought I would be excited to drive a Hyundai but I'm a coupe fan who prefers RWD and I have driven most of the other offerings so this one will be interesting.

One problem is that I'm torn between the T4 and V6. If I knew I wouldn't touch it I would probably stick with the V6 but with a slightly bigger turbo and 5lbs more boost the T4 is putting down 350hp to the wheels. The T4 with RWD is going to explode in the aftermarket.

That and the fact that a Camaro is finally on the way, the Challenger is badass, the Mustang is finally getting the power it needs and VW finally is getting their R-model Golf right with the R20 on the way. Hmmmm... All great candidates.

If you go here http://genesisforums.org/hyundai-gen...ur-pics-2.html you can scroll through a few pages and you will start seeing some without having to register. If you register you will be able to see tons of them. Can't help you if you were wanting more pics of that girl instead of the coupe.

Preface: That model is extremely pretty.

However....it's a little sad when a Hyundai has more/better curves than the pretty girl standing next to it. You could put Ashton Kuscher's <sp?> face on that body, and no one would be the wiser. Yeah, I said it.

Woah, she has such a nice face I didn't even notice. I think a Hummer might have more curves too.
