Re: FJ Cruiser
I went through one at a dealer the other day. I heard a salesman say they were back ordered for 4 months here in the south west. Just sitting in it, and looking at it in person, I liked it. The interior was of good quality IMO. There wasn't alot of cargo room, and the rear seat seemed like tight quarters for passengers. The rear seat did not fold flat. I thought it would. I think it's important for a vehicle like this to have a flat loading floor, but maybe that's just me. It was an automatic with locking rear diff with an MSRP over $30,000. I'm sure it's off road capable, but it offers little in the way of utility. I'm sure they'll sell a ton. I'm always amazed that despite looking at pics of vehicles, they are very different in person. The FJ in person gives off a very brawny, bull dog vibe. I imagine it will be cross shopped with the H2. Between the H2 and the FJ, I'd be leaning toward the FJ.

Re: FJ Cruiser
The only thing I like about it is it has something GM does not, A 6-speed manual in a truck.

Re: FJ Cruiser
I finally saw one on road... all I can say it "atrocious!" It is quite disjointed in design.

Re: FJ Cruiser
i don't like the style of it. the mechanicals are great, and the idea is pretty good... it just didn't come out right IMO. i think if Toyota had just made shorter 2+2 door 4-runner it would have come out just as well in everything the FJ is good at, and far better where it comes up short.

Re: FJ Cruiser
It's a toy. It looks like a toy and you play it like a toy. No one in his right mind would have it as a daily driver or as a family hauler. And there's no need to make it look all mean and macho to impress people because it's a toy, not a status symbol.
I think that's pretty much what Toyota had in mind and I think it will hit its target audience of weekend offroaders and adventurers. |

Re: FJ Cruiser
My dealership has had 2 of them (One purple, one blue), and to me, they are the ugliest cars ever. I'd rather have an Aztek or Element. But customers have been flocking to them like crazy. The purple sold immediately, and the blue one is always out on test drives.
To me, it looks like a team of designers made it (one guy did the front, one the side, one the rear), and the guys never talked to each other. It looks slapped together. Now quality wise, fit&finish, power, etc... all could very well be first class, but looks alone have killed it for me.

Re: FJ Cruiser
kind of like how the new tundra doesnt have matching door handles and a wierd interior? Im pretty sure even the tailgate handle doesnt match the front or rear doors.
I saw one at a dealership, pretty ugly. but there were plenty of toyota people there breathing on the windows!

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...03/212366.html Toyota is proud to point out that the FJ Cruiser can, and has, traversed the famous Rubicon trail, an obvious shot at Jeep. With its predicted moderate base price, and base models are what most enthusiasts purchase, Toyota is clearly aiming at Wrangler and Nissan Xterra. With legendary quality in hand, and the mystique of FJ that still commands respect among off roaders to offer, the 2007 FJ Cruiser is absolutely going to be a hit. Wow, watch the FJ climb those rocks! (wait for it to load) http://www.toyota.com/fj/ Last edited by Ridge1 : 04-09-2006 at 12:49 PM. |

Re: FJ Cruiser
Personally, I like the FJ... I think it is a nice SUV. I sat in one at the Philly Autoshow and I got to sit in one when the local Toyota dealership had an opening party thing... It had a nice interior and the exterior imo looks much better in person... The only problem for me was the limited back seat room... I liked how it had the manual shift 4x4 system in it... Plus it seems to be a very capable suv... Didn't get a ride in it since the dealership only had 2 in stock and didn't wanna risk the visitors damaging their new Fj's... But since this is a GM forum it is going to be bashed and called a sissy suvs and look and acts like a "toy" when i reality it isn't...
