Re: First Look: 2008 Nissan Titan

ok....so it looks even more like a Ford great! Too much chrome on the rear view mirrors. but so what. The new headlamp design has a more mature more 'upright look' in my opinion. I like that, especially how the yellow outlines to top portion of the lamp encasing. The wheel arches are there and these too look not overly exaggerated, like a Dodge Ram. That is a nice touch, although this vehicle in the top pic. has the same deficiency that the GMT900 trucks have...the wheels don't fill out the spaces! Especially that rear wheel in the top pic. I have no neg/pos emotions about the rims, they good i guess.

I would like to see the interior, because the exterior looks pretty similar to the outgoing model. I guess their taking Ford's view at refreshing.....

I don't really see anything that stand out to me on the new 2008 Titan. It will loose lot of sales to the new Toyota Tundra.

From the additional bed length I am guessing the wheelbase gets extended by about 16 inches. That is a lot when you start driving this vehicle everyday in and out of parking lots. Unless they did something different with the steering and front suspension, the turning radius will be probably in the 48 to 50 foot range. YIKES!!!

There had been a rumor a couple of years ago that Nissan was talking to Delphi about adding Quadrasteer to the Titan's options list. I guess that never panned out. That would be an ideal choice for a long truck like this. It's a shame - one thing holding my dad back from upgrading his 2004 Sierra Denali is that Quadrasteer is no longer available. He absolutely loves it - and most of the time when he parks his truck, he turns the wheel all the way to one side or the other so the back wheels are turned, which makes for some interesting glances from bystanders. He's never had one problem with his QS - too bad that it was doomed by GM charging too much for it initially.

I've always found this a very good looking truck in person. Too bad it had so many quality problems.

Re: First Look: 2008 Nissan Titan

Nice that they added a longer wheelbase. The problem is, the Titan still remains with limited cab/bed/powertrain configurations. Plus, this new Titan doesn't hit dealers until May. Titan is going to lose big against the new Tundra. Nissan should be very worried.

Re: First Look: 2008 Nissan Titan

I have a friend who used to own a really nice 02 4Runner Limited. He used to get a good 320 miles to the tank on his commutes. He traded the 4Runner for an Armada because he said he needed something bigger. He passed on the big Toyotas cuz he said everyone he knew owned either a LandCruiser or a Sequoia, he passed on the domestics cuz he called them beaner mobiles (no pun intended) and he liked the Armadas cuz there not popular.

I asked him a few months later what kind of mpg he's getting in it, he looked at me and said, "same as the 4Runner." LOL 320 miles to the tank. In comparison:

4Runner fillup = ~$40
Armada fillup = ~$120

Both ~320 miles to the tank

He traded it in for a Honda Oddesy.
