Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
The coupe in the back is the CR-Z its coming out a year after the insight. Looks a lot like the FCX, but i guess all dedicated hybrids will have that same look.

Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
Based on my experience hanging out at auto dealers, Honda can barely keep up with customer demand as it is today. (opposite of Saturn)
This product should send instant fear through the hearts of other automakers at $19,000 - the combination of huge brand equity + pricing + solid product = killer sales if gas price trends continue. Also knowing Honda, this vehicle is almost production ready. Their concepts are very close to their production models. No 6 year spy shots here - it's basically one short step now to production now. |

Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
I love that CR-Z concept, especially from the front and sides, and hope it enters production unchanged....very aggressive stance and design language, like the "intake" snout.

Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
I would buy this before a Prius, but this is still an unlikely segment for me to buy in anytime soon.

Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
The front end has an underbite that would thrill an orthodontist. I'd be willing to bet the C/D is not significantly better than the Volt.

Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
Very true, but they are typically "Here's the production car with big wheels!" concepts rather than pie in the sky "What do you think? Should we build this for you?" concepts. It's a case of a "concept" previewing an existing production car rather than the other way around. Pontiac G6 was another example of this type of concept. It wasn't quite the production car, but it was one of those cases where the concept (showcar, really) was extrapolated from the production car rather than the other way around.

Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
That's the shape of aerodynamics...required for the best possible fuel economy. It's the same shape as an airplane wing cut in half horizontally, and it's probably going to be the shape of most cars that are just hitting the drawing board now, so you might have to get used to it.

Re: First Details of New Honda Insight Hybrid
But if you look closely, its not as edgy as the concept was. It's going to look somewhat bulbous whether you like it or not. And I think that the Honda Insight actually looks good, I don't agree with the chrome grill and nose though, I'd rather see the coupe make production.
