And it smells like goldfish food burps all around.

And then it hit me.
That's when I realized I was inside the carp.

4 gen was out in 2008.
600hp aluminum block with VVT tuned by McLaren and Ricardo (original casting by Lamborghini)
Lightweight chassis
Double-wishbones all around
Fat Michelin PS2 tires
Costs 90K
Far less exotic? Hardly.
The 7:59 track time you quoted was run in 2005.
That means that particular Viper was designed in 2002.
While that's not 10 years (for some reason '97 sticks as a good year for the viper), it's 5 years and an eternity, an entire generation in high-end cars.

We have yet to see a ring time for the 2008 Viper.
But if I were going to drive a Viper, any Viper, it would be this one.....

Now, this is much more appealing to me.....

And of course let's not forget.....

Finally....

All other things equal, given a free pass, I'm pretty sure which one I would choose.

You already forgot that you was talking about time slips?
We have time slips that show that the much older, far less exotic Viper will run with the GT-R. Stock.

Camouflaged GT-R photo? Do you really think anyone will fall to such trick? Please, be more inventive next time.

I know which one I would take. I would take best car overall.
The one you could live with on regular basis and not kill yourself next winter.
And it's not ACR, Z06 or GT3RS for sure.

Your ring lap time comparison is against a Viper that is no longer produced.
We've already shown that the 2008 Viper will match the Nissan in the 1/4 mile.
We have yet to see a ring time in this thread for a 2008 Viper or the ACR.

What are you smoking?
I'm trying to have some fun with this thread, including some pictures.
If the biggest, most detailed picture in my post seems somehow biased or slanted to you, by all means post your own pictures.

Yeah. Um. No.
Yeah, I would take the best car overall.
And no, not the car you hinted at.

Um... you'd take a GT-R over a GT3 RS??
I guess I'd do the same if I was living with the belief every owner of a GT3, Z06 etc. died come winter...

Where was Ferrari Enzo or McLaren F1 in 1920? They suck and Ford Model T FTW.

Why should we bother with times from different sources? These 7-9s Vipers are obviously not stock. What's your point then?

We have legit times from edmunds, with 600hp stock Viper and production USDM stock GT-R. And Viper doesn't have any advantage. What a drama and reality check for some folks.

Another reality check will be at the actual strip, where GT-R can be launched ten times in a row and get results within 0.1s. Good luck doing that with stick.
Actually with a proper driver the Z06 runs low 11s BONE STOCK on STOCK TIRES.

It also has waaay higher trap speeds than the GTR, in a straight line, the Z06 blows the doors off of the GTR. Edmunds drivers just suck! 12 seconds? Please I see tons of videos with average joes pulling 11.5s all day.

Not that it matters, but wheneverI go to the track, I hardly ever see anyone tooling around in bone-stock cars. They usually at least have a few bolt-ons.

Also, Edmunds is not the only one that has tested the GTR and Z06. R&T also tested the US Spec GT-R when they took the cars to buttonwillow. They mentioned they tested 0-60 and 1/4 mile, and they said the cars were pretty much dead even in those two tests. (albeit the Z06 still trapped faster)... But it did not help, as the Z06 still lost by over 5 seconds at buttonwillow.

Um ... you'd take GT3RS - caged car on half-slicks with no sound-deadening, no aircon/stereo over relatively practical GT-R? I guess I'd do the same if I was living on the track 100% of the time. But even then ... why bother with GT3RS if GT-R would be faster on track anyway?

GT-R 11.6 @ 120
Z06 11.7 @ 125

MT too should hire some average joes. It's dead heat between GT-R and Z06.

Maybe I...
a) Don't believe in relative practicality -- it's either practical or it's not
b) Happen to know that GT3 RS has airconditioning, stereo, navigation etc.
c) Believe there's more to a sports car than stats
d) Am vain and want other people to think I have some semblence of good taste
e) Not recovered from my previous "Nissan ownership experience" yet
f) All of the above

c) yep, that's why EVO choosed GT-R over R8 for the road
d) beware people might think you are freak driving around in the caged car

I see you conveniently ignored your flat out lie (or ignorance) about the GT3 RS not having AC or stereo... Well ain't that the beauty of internet message boards .
