Re: The Chinese Brilliance BS6: EuroNCAP Debacle

Looks about as bad as the 1997-2003 F-150. I'd say that generation F-150 is a bit worse because of the dummy position after the test.

At least the airbags deployed. Chinese manufacturers have a long road ahead in terms of safety.

Ouch! But at least you'll save lots of money before you die.

Brilliance builds BMWs in China, you think they could of learned 'stole' something from BMW.

Ouch! No doubt the sunroof didn't help things structurally. Did anyone watch the video? A piece of glass goes flying by the screen towards the middle...kinda freaky!

hahaha Wow, absolutely horrid. I don't think even Korean cars were this bad when they first started selling them. Sad thing is, NHTSA's standards are so low and old, it would probably pass and could go on sale here in the US...barf

The BS6 is street legal and on sale in Europe (price range 19,000€ - 23,000€/$25,400 - $30,800; Brilliance is a premium car maker in China).

Re: The Chinese Brilliance BS6: EuroNCAP Debacle

I don't think it's news, I think it was tested before, as I remember hearing it only got 1 star. I think it is legal to sell those in Europe because this is arranged by means of "individual imports", but I might be wrong. At least this was the way Landwind tried to enter the Polish market without certifying their Isuzu derivative (which obviously wouldn't pass the tests).

Anyway, it's still a really nice car on the outside and with BMW effectively managing Brilliance's carmaking business, I believe there is future for them. The BS6 was, AFAIK, designed before BMW stepped in basing on old Mitsubishi componentry.

OTOH, this might explain why good old W-bodies still find eager customers in China...

MG meets Lancia came to my mind after I saw the first pictures of the BS6.
