Also, remember the first GT-R that was tested, was not a car Nissan sent to a journalist. It was a PRODUCTION car (albeit JDM) that was owned by someone, that volunteered to let Edmunds test it.
That is getting lost on all of the insecure fans. You have it correct and clearly read the entire article before giving your opinion instead of having your opinion ahead of time and as soon as you read enough to justify a rant quit reading.

Basically the article said the original car was thought to be a ringer because the subsequent test mules sent out to be flogged didn't perform as well as the original car. When asked Nissan said that all of the cars tested so far a pre-production and a final PRODUCTION tune has not been decided on. Eventually a production car was PRODUCED and it matched the performance of the first (and fastest) test mule.

There is no issue here other than for the "everyones out to get us clan". As performance fans we should be happy that Nissan gave the GT-R the more powerful tunes since that puts pressure on all the other performance cars to keep getting better.

Dude, you got some messed up theories. If Car and Driver were 1/2 the bed-wetting liberal Frenchies you claim....then they'd be gaga over every Nissan to come through their offices. You know, seeing how Renault (France) owns a large chunk of Nissan.

Now you're talking about troops in Iraq? Oh brother.

What did you expect? For Car and Driver not to insult the US auto industry? Especially with our troops in Iraq?
The only way we'll ever see fairness at Car and Driver is after we pull out of Iraq and subsidize some French industries.
Go back and read the story your making yourself look bad by joining the everyone’s out to get us club when there is no story here. Your conspiracy theory would work out better if the production car was underpowered.
1) The first PRE-PRODUCTION car was super powerful.
2) The next 3 PRE-PRODUCTION cars were not as powerful.
3) Nissan was asked what the deal was and they said they haven't made a final decision on the PRODUCTION tune which includes final boost levels.
4) Eventually a PRODUCTION car came off the line and was tested. The results of this test were that it performed equal to the first, and most powerful car. What’s the problem here?
