You sound bitter. I must have struck a nerve with some comments that hit the bullseye.

For the record, where did I bad mouth Nissan/Toyota? They make products for the buying public so it is my right a duty as an automotive enthusiast to have an opinion about what they offer. The real estate guy you know probably isn't trying to please you in any way so your negative opinion of him (and owners of cars like his) seems to stem from jealousy/insecurity.

I know a few Z06 owners and many Corvette owners that are very rich and primarily own their own businesses. Lot of them have very little education. For example, I know this real estate guy (hotelier) who used be a construction worker 25 years ago. Now he owns bunch of hotels/resorts nationwide and has an impressive American muscle car collection. The dude can't even write his name properly.

-The term hillbilly is commonly used in non-Appalachian areas as a reference in describing socially backward people that fit certain "hillbilly" characteristics. Although the described person may not reside in a region that has hills of any kind, it is substituted in place of more disparaging terms like white trash. Regionally, it is also used as interchangeable slang for terms like Redneck.

-Hillbilly can be a pejorative term referring to people who dwell in remote, rural, mountainous areas usually of the United States. Because of its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term is frequently considered derogatory and is highly offensive to those of Appalachian heritage.

Owning a business is not an easy thing to do, many start up businesses do fail. Obviously those that do survive and prospered have done something right. As for your example your guy not only made a successful transition from a construction workers to a hotel chain owner but he has done it without being able to write. Obviously he has loads of determination, guts, and street smarts to do that.
