Best TrailerBoats Towing 2007 Half ton Pickup - Toyota Tundra

Just skimmed through their website and they've picked the Tundra as the best towing 2007 half ton pickup after two weeks of driving the vehicles.

http://www.trailerboats.com/output.cfm?id=1210051

A few suprises in reading:
- I thought the Hemi pickup would do better as it was lighter due to being the only 2wd in the comaprison
- The Tundra was first in fit and finish
- Somebody was quicker towing their boat load than the Tundra but they didn't mention which vehicle it was

I'm hoping the magazine article will have some performance stats but I haven't seen the issue on the newstand yet.

- The Tundra was first in fit and finish

That helps towing a boat...

What surprised me is that a brand new vehicle in maybe a brand new plant (if made in Texas) would have better fit and finish than vehicles which have been assembled in their current form and plant for many months or years.

Until this article I didn't realize that you could get the maximum trailer towing and the offroad package in the Tundra as I assumed it was like GM where the two packages seem mutually exclusive.

I think the AWD (or fulltime 4wd) option in GM and Ford gives them some advantage for people who live in areas of partial snow/rain where shifting in and out of 4Hi is a major pain in the @ss (trust me as I just spent a week or two driving a GMC2500 pickup with part time 4wd).

Nice to see a realistic review regarding something fullsize truck buyers will actually be doing, unlike some other reviews that focus too much on how neutral the handling is or slalom times.

The article stated "We decided to test four-wheel-drive (4WD), crew cab 1?2-tons, and we asked each of the five manufacturers to deliver a 2007 model set up (with engine, transmission, axle ratio and tire size) to attain the maximum tow rating available."

I guess Chevy wasn't that interested in giving their most capable truck for the test. It still looks as if the Sierra did very well. A very close 2nd at the least.

This is absolute BS. They compared the Z71 with the Tundra's towing package!! This looks more like Toyota's marketing machine than a fair test. I hope people don't pay too much attention to this.

its gm's fault for not sending the correct truck. it had the vortecmax, but not the max trailer package.

They wanted to give Toyota a chance.

Re: Best TrailerBoats Towing 2007 Half ton Pickup - Toyota Tundra

I got a feeling that GM didn't send the best truck they had because they knew that even if they sent out a Silverado with a trailer hitch teh size of the truck itself, none of their powerplants will be able to preform equal or better than the Tundra. So they sent out the weakling so people on internet forums can argue that the reason why the GM trucks didn't win was because they didn't have the MAX trailer option. lol, it all makes sense.
