Badge engineering by . . . TOYOTA (???)

Oh Lordy, lordy, lord. Badge engineering has crossed the American borders, swim across the Pacific ocean and landed in, of all places . . . Japan.

Meet ugly and uglier, sorry . . . Toyota (Scion) bB and Daihatsu Coo

Re: Badge engineering by . . . TOYOTA (???)

Not a Toyota but still Japanese.

You Americans know it as the "prestigious" Acura TSX.

Marketed as a premium midsize car in North America.

Huh?! You are kidding me right???

We Europeans know it as the very mainstream Honda Accord.

Our Euro Honda Accord looks so much better than the American one.

Japanese badge engineering is not a new thing and they are often pretty blatant.

Just remember that before Toyota introduced Lexus in Japan. All Lexus sold in America and Europe were known as Toyota in Japan and so the Infiniti models sold in America (and soon in EUR), which are Nissans in Japan and the same thing for Acura which also are known as Honda in Japan.

And it is available with 4WD and 5-speed manual.

But it's restricted to the 2.4 16V Engine and only 4-speed Automatic.

We get a manual with the 4cyl here in the states, and Japan has always had an AWD Camry. I have no idea why they don't bring it to the States.

No, alot of people say that the Big Three are the only auto companies that have blatant rebadges and this thread is pointing out that almost every auto company has at least one pair of rebadged cars. Toyhondissan are thought of as perfect by alot of uninformed people and they don't know that the companies that they worship do the same thing as the companies that they hate. I'm not saying anyone here on GMI does that though...

Oh, and it's bad that any car company makes a rebadged car.
