How about adding a full-size luxury sedan like a s-class into their line-up? even lexus has already established that. they aren't going to be competitive enough in europe if they don't have that.

Cadillac cannot sell well in europe if they don't have a diesel engine. whats wrong with BMWs, let alone any luxury auto maker being used as taxis? I don't understand what the problem is. they're chosen for comfort, room, quality and reliability. you may see leather offered in the states but in other parts of the world, cloth is offered because leather craps out easily. ask any european about that.

Hyundai Motor Company, set out to create, design, and bring to market its first Luxury car, and it did so in record time. GM created luxury in its Buick, and Cadillac lines, and then forgot the formula. I know a lot of self made persons, which came from disadvantaged beginnings, many of them whom most of you have heard about that realized, it's not the pedigree, but it’s the motivation that made the difference. If Hyundai falls a little short this time, they have time to refine it as Lexus did. Remember it has just been 20 years, since everyone laughed at Toyota's challenge to German manufacturing, and most of those vehicles are still on the road, and their latest models, have broken the $100K selling mark. Cadillac has been around for almost 100 years, and still doesn't have a modern family sized sedan. And what Cadillac offers for $100K your friends in the know, would secretly laugh at you for purchasing.
I would expect as much at a place called GMI. It's the nature of the beast.

GM's mismanagement has taken a rich history that should make it incredibly competitive, and scattered the ashes of GM's geniuses past, to the four winds.

Over 50% of the millionaires in the USA are immigrants who came here with nothing or very little. The US is still the land of opportunity. Hard work and excellent product is still rewarded.

The Invcita with a DOHC V8 might, if it was RWD, but it doesnt and so it wont.
This car outclasses anything GM currently has outside of the CTS.
Never underestimate your enemy. GM does that too often.

A month before I bought my KIA (aka last-gen Hyundai Elantra) Spectra, KIA was not even on my radar. I saw a few ads, and when the current car became too costly I went looking.
The local Chevy dealer had no Cobalts and two of the flimsy looking Aveos on the lot. They had two or three HHRs.

The BP-GMC dealer had ZERO Vibes. None. They had about 50...or 100?...blockbuster 4500+ LB truck-vehicles of various sorts. I don't think he had any G5 or G6, either, but because of styling and name changes those cars are not on my radar.

The Honda salesman was a complete peckerhead. I've heard the "Hondas never need repair" line about 10 times too many already.
What about stupid do they not understand?

The Ford Function or Fission or Filet or whatever F they call it, just doesn't send tingles up my leg like a certain candidate does for Chris Mathews.

I didn't go by the Toyletta dealer, they're arsewholes and crooks.

I DID shop Hyundai, Suzuki, and KIA. All three cars (Elantra, SX4 sedan, Spectra) drove very nicely, were well put together, and could be had for $15,000 or less. I paid 12 grand for our Spectra.

I suspect, but do not know, that Hyundai and KIA customers are looking for more choices and better choices.
I know they're looking for value, and I know they look at the warranty.
My Spectra cruises at 80 as effortlessly, stably, and comfortably as my 04 Impala did.

You've never been to Europe, have you? BMW taxis barely even exist.

Things may have changed a bit, but in 1975 when I arrived in the FRG (aka West Germany), most taxis were MB, Audi, and BMW.

Best damn cab ride I ever got.
An older German, he was excellent, a fast driver good with the stick, with the brakes, good with the wheel.

The car was clean and trim, not a rolling dump with the atmosphere of a bus station as most American cabs are.

Now THAT's something we need to import.

Mercedes taxis are extremely common, BMW...no.

Taxi market shares in Germany:

Mercedes - 65%
VW - 15%
Opel - 5%
Ford - 3%
Audi - 2%
Mazda - 2%
Other - 8%

cawimmer has pics of MB taxis in Munich in the spotted thread. And like lamronh said, they are a lot better than the ones here that get honked and make unsafe passings

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in writing all this are you trying to tell us you like Kia's?

Are you serious or are you being sarcastic?

It's hard for me to make a correct diagnosis on this forum sometimes.

Boy, Paul.
You mentioned the first Lexus. I remember doing a one week evaluation on the LS 400 when they first came out. We were in awe of the quality, quietness, acceleration, etc.
Yes, i see many of these on the road as i do the first generation of the SC's. And that was quite a car as well. For me, Lexus doesn't have the edge that they once had. I now see their large sedan as stodgy.
