2009 Acura TL w/ less disguise

Over the weekend, we brought you some revealing spy photos of the 2009 Acura TL. To kick off the week, we've now got six more images of the car undergoing final testing. When it comes to redesigns, Acura appears to be on a roll — we've already seen the new RL and TSX this year, and the new TL should arrive before the end of 2008, too.

In April, information leaked out of an Acura dealer meeting in New Orleans regarding the new TL. According to a source who attended the meeting, the 2009 Acura TL lineup will consist of two models: a base front-wheel drive car and an up-level all-wheel drive model. The front-driver will be powered by a 280 horsepower 3.5L V6 whereas the AWD model will receive its motivation from a 3.7L V6 producing 300 horsepower.
Despite boasting 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive, the range-topping model will not sport the Type-S nameplate. In fact, the source says that Acura will not offer a Type-S model, at least not in 2009. It remains unclear if the performance model will eventually join the lineup.
Acura has promised us a new TL by the end of the year so a Los Angeles Auto Show reveal seems likely.

Judging by that grill (similar to TSX)... they are on the way to ruining last good-looking car in a model line. Morons.

I don't think it looks that bad. Although, it kind of looks similar to the Insignia, IMO.

I can only wait until I see it unvieled to come to any conclusion.

Definately, it sucks. I always thought the Acura models were much better looking than Honda's.

Haha good one.

The front end looks like it's gonna kill the car in the end, but overall it doesn't look too bad, especially from the rear 3/4.

Back end of the greenhouse reminds me of the Lexus GS.
Interior has 2 cave-like growths coming out of the dashboard....
the rear looks like a mishmash of garbage. Its fat, wide, and just seems to end too short? odd...odd car.

I agree, the TL is the last good looking Acura imo and they seem intent on changing that.....

Rear side looks like the outgoimg Maxima...not necessarily a good thing. Can't tell much about the rest.

If this thing is going to be AWD and 300 bhp, what are they doing with the RL?

So I'm not the only one who hates the new Acura TSX front grill treatment!

Did they hire the idiot that put the huge ugly chrome grilles on all the Fords or something?

Re: 2009 Acura TL w/ less disguise

I'm surprised Honda/Acura hasn't updated their engine lineup yet. 280 horsepower from their 3.5 liter SOHC V6 has been out since 2004 (in the 2005 RL) and 300 horsepower from their 3.7 liter SOHC V6 have been available since 2006 in the 2007 MDX.

Those outputs are acceptable if not great for their price range. But I figured Acura would be introducing something innovative to generate interest, like direct injection or a new more efficient engine family.
