Site issue

I am having some site issues since GMI was bought out. The website seems to hang up after the header loads before the body page comes up. It does it on the three PCs I am using. I am using XP and Vista, and IE7 and Firefox. It doesn't seem to make a difference.

Anybody else having problems?

I haven't noticed any issues. I'm running XP, Vista, IE7 and IE8.

Re: Site issue

I haven't noticed any issues with it (IE 7 or Firefox). It sounds like it is an issue with a web cache of some kind. Your ISP or network may have one.

Re: Site issue

At work, I installed a baracuda web filter about the same time the site moved. GMI is not blocked, but it is so slow using IE7 you can't stand to use it. When using firefox it slow but useable most of the time.

Now it seems when at home GMI is slowing down.

I have played with the cache on the web filter to see if that helped. Put the web filter in audit or bypass fixs the problem at work. I haven't had any users complain about other sites having problems. I am pretty sure howardforums uses the same software, and it seems fine.

I must of made the IT gods unhappy. The users are not to happy about me blocking myspace. This is their revenge.

Yep. Both here at home and work. It loads, but on occasion seems to take forever. Not all the time, but it happens frequently.

It's ever since the "new" GMI went into effect that I've noticed a difference.

I'm patient though. If it takes longer, it takes longer...

Re: Site issue

Seems to load twice here, loads then starts over, and about a hundred different addresses come up every time I click on a topic. Not bad on broadband even so but I'd hate to be on a slower connection.

Re: Site issue

I've got the same issues. header loads, then, after a while, the page loads.

No biggie, but sometimes it takes as long as seven or eght seconds.

same issues here except I've seen 30 sec. or more on a few occasions. Very sporatic, I'd say less than 5% of the time and more often early am (6amEST)

I believe that those of you who are having issues with the slow loading it is most likely caused by the programs/filters you have in place trying to block the banner ads under the header, and for whatever reason they are not doing it correctly and thus the rest of the page is waiting for those steps to complete before it finishes loading the page.

With the barracuda, this is for sure the case as you say when you put it in audit or bypass the problem goes away, you know for a fact the problem has to be the way the barracuda is attempting to filter/block something causing the problem.

Just my 2c.

I agree that has to do something with the ads. As other stated. It is almost as the header loads, and it hangs for a bit, then the header refreshes and the rest of the page loads.

I run a pretty clean PC at home and work. I don't have any tool bars or filters running on my machine. The both seem do the same thing. The barracuda just makes it take even longer.
