New Ad Layout

Howdy,
I fully understand the need for ads especially on a site as popular as GMI is. However I'm not a fan of the huge block of ads right below header, especially on the home page. I have my resolution set to 1280 x 1024 and I have to scroll down to see the headlines and the featured article. I don't believe it does the site any justice to have the ads aranged in this fashion.

I promise to click on more ads if you put it back the way it was!

Just my .02,
Ryan

Download Adblock Plus for Firefox and all the ads will disappear.

I believe there are plans for a premium membership that will remove almost all the ads for about the cost of a pizza or two. If you want to see ads, try signing out, and viewing the site as a guest

On a free community based site that's a bit like burning CD's of your favorite band - you're stealing from the people you like.

I don't get how lazy society is becoming when it's so hard to scroll down a web page when you in fact have to scroll down the web page anyway simply to look at the topics and see what's being discussed.

Maybe someone needs to invent a little electric motor inside the mouse so the scroll wheel doesn't need so much effort to roll.

Funny you mention that. My mouse (Logitech MX Revolution) has a small transmission type device in the scroll wheel that allows it to scroll with little effort, or like normal.

Haha..all my computers have an MX revolution mouse with them. Funny how it takes an electric motor to make a fast scrolling scroll wheel.

I now see that the ads are different for "guests" and "members". When I originally when to write the post I was not signed in. Now that I am signed in I see a completely different, and smaller, ad block. I'm good now.

Ryan

PS I have the Logitech Mouse too.. very very nice little mouse

Wow, I never noticed the aforementioned problem, but then i remembered I had blocking software. I turned that off...reloaded...and a couple banners. Then I logged out and poof, ad's everywhere.

If and when the paid membership comes to fruition, I'll be signing up, I love this place.
