I am confused

Why has a thread in "The Lounge" been closed down as having nothing to do with the auto-industry when that is exactly what the lounge is for.

Does the snake pit still exist? That is where stuff got really interesting.

nsap
this is the thread in "The Lounge" that was closed because it had no relevance to the auto industry.

The Lounge is still open of course. There is no reason to reopen the thread but I felt the reason it was closed may no sense.

Yes because it is a political topic that has nothing to do with the auto industry. We do not allow non-industry political discussions in any forum on the site.

It still exists, just not as much in there as before.

Re: I am confused

With the financial state of the auto industry, and that the financial industry is inter-related with all industries, I believe that China's focus on buying Fannie Mae is somewhat inter-related. Especially in the Lounge section. But afterall, the site does have "GM" in its URL, so why should anything make sense?

We allowed politics on a rather cavalier basis a few months ago as a trial. The membership blew it and I refuse to ever try it again. I must have said a dozen times on here that it would be tried once and if failed, we're done with politics that aren't DIRECTLY related to the industry.

It was originally in the "Suggest a News Article" forum originally. Seeing as it had direct tie with GM or the rest of the auto industry, I closed it and moved it to the lounge for it to die and to allow the OP to see why it was closed and not PM a staff member going, " WTF happened to my thread?"
