Can finally connect... now get slow loading pages....

A miracle has happened.... I can finally view the new site layout at home for the first time since the upgrade, so about 4 months.

Now the only problem is the top portion loads normal but everything below the grey tool bar (home, forum, active topics, media gallery....) takes about 30 seconds or so to load.

Vista Ultimate SP1 / IE 7.0

I did the obvious things, set security to medium (lowest allowed), delete temp files (not that will be any), set privacy to low, I don't have any proxies, Disabled the phishing filter, disabled protected mode, disabled java, disabled
check for publishers certificate rvocation, check for server certificate revocation, check for signatures on downloaded programs.

It would appear as though the ad that appears just below the tool bar seems to be really slow in loading and then once it loads everything is fine. It happens on every page on the site, and like the issue with not accessing the site.

Anyone else having issues? Any ideas on speeding up the page load?

I've experienced the same miracle. But no such drawbacks.

Re: Can finally connect... now get slow loading pages....

I've been in touch with a guy at AutoForums, and they recently moved the site to another server or something, which is why we can now connect without a proxy. However, the advertising sites are still on the old server, which is probably why it takes friggin' forever to load. I haven't talked to him for a day or two, but he did say that they were planning on moving the ads (page2.googlesyndication.com or whatever) to the new server soon.

Re: Can finally connect... now get slow loading pages....

Yup, I have the same thing
takes a while to load,
showing:
Tranferring data from pagead2.googlesyndication.com...
then
Connecting to as.ext-n.com...
but
at least I can connect with my family's broadband now

funny thing is the same puter could connect without problems or delays if I stuck in a phone cord and used my old ISP (earthlink), but I couldn't tie up their phone all day

(same for both Firefox2 & whatever IE came with the puter)

One thing I've been doing is to right click on a topic and open in a new tab, then I can return to the main page without waiting for the reload. Does get irritating for sure.

Re: Can finally connect... now get slow loading pages....

tho I've been too busy lately to be online as much as I like (ie 25x7)
GMI seems a bit faster-loading today for me

pagead2.googlesyndication.com still takes just/almost as long
but
Connecting to as.ext-n.com seems a bit quicker - esp. when loading the individual section listings < example
(loading to POST this didN'T seem faster tho )

btw
one trick I've learned is to Never use Preview anymore
since that's a SlowLoad everytime
but if I SubmitReply and then use simpleEdit - there's no wait to get back to the page

Yeah, my pagead2.googlesyndication.com thing seems to have gotten a little faster.

But what up with the reorganization on the front page? AOL Autos? WTF?

Meh, I'm getting the same problem, though I didn't have it when you guys posted. Mine is horrendously slow. Not quite dial up, but close >:|
