Re: Yellow 08 9-3 convertible fully exposed

It's hard to tell with the side glass up- but the interrior looks like it's black instead of charcoal with black inserts.

Since the Aero seems to have adopted the aniversary edition alloy wheels here's hoping this is the black interrior with gry inserts of the anniversary edition convertible- I rode in one for a service loaner- like it so much better than my charcoal with black inserts- looks much richer

Re: Yellow 08 9-3 convertible fully exposed

I like the new front end now that it's fully uncovered.

The rear end is gross. Those taillights and those black outlines just slaughter it.

Re: Yellow 08 9-3 convertible fully exposed

I still think the grille is too subaru and the blingy front end is completely unnecessary.
The loss of the saab door handles just makes it one step closer to being generic.

I'm no fan of the new designs.

Re: Yellow 08 9-3 convertible fully exposed

Not a huge fan - like Bravada says the front, in fact all of it looks like a badly put-together-by-communist-Brummies kit car that should never have seen the light of day.

I also agree with mgescuro - what's all the sudden chroming up of Saab's about then? are they the next 'hip' 'gangsta' 'ride' or will they still be driven by the same old consumer - the person that has to choose one off the company car lists.

Bring back the old 9-3. That is a travesty, and probably an unrightable one.

I agree with you --- the more I see the revised car, the more I like it. I think it's handsome and attractive.

The rear lights I'm not sold on yet, but they're growing on me. Just wish they'd go another route with the "ice" look to the taillamps.

I agree. I wish they'd bring back to the coupe as well. You'd almost have to wonder why they WOULDNT do this considering that the structure for the coupe kinda already exists in the convertible, doesn't it? I mean, would it be all that difficult to graft a coupe roofline onto the convertible and get another bespoke product?

Just an odd thought...

Just a note, in the US we will not get the "iced" lights, since its against government regulations. Additionally, the clear side-marker lense will be orange.

For me though, I prefer the "iced" look, even if most people do think its too "ricey."

If they are the same people who rave about how great the "gangsta" front clip is, I am afraid something's wrong here...

You mean the inside or outside handles? The ones on the outside still look Saab to me, seems like they just got body-coloured... I do prefer them black though, the plastic Saab uses for them is really nice... Unlike what they use inside - I spent quite some time recently in the Saab 9-3 sedan and I must say the longer we've been together, the more I was irritated by the less-than-fine feeling of the materials on the door panels on the part you get to touch. Moreover, when you look at the dash from close-up, it looks fine, but not really premium-quality, thanks to some less-premium materials and simply not-so-tight fit. I hope GM addressed that too, apart from ruining the front end...

Re: Yellow 08 9-3 convertible fully exposed

The black is anything but nice. It fades and you have to either get them replaced continuely or actually get black die. The convertible keeps the old style handles while the sedan gets the BLS handles, which I think is much better. I think this new front is awesome and if I was older and financial stable, I'd go trade in my 04 for an 08 Aero in a heartbeat.

meh, ...i still don't like the look of the front end. I don't hate it, but I feel its not as good as it could have been. It just doesn't look 'SAAB' to me.

Here is a MY08 SportCombi over in Sweden.

Also here is a close up the 9-3 LED and Light pipe that is running along the edge of the headlight assembly.

I completely agree, it reminds me of an updated version of the 9-2x and it further confirms the reason the next Imprezza is so ugly is that it was probably developed during the time when the next 9-2x was still going to be a rebadge

Although its looking alot better then what I thought, I still prefer the 9-3 pree 2006 interior facelift with the current exterior

Although Saab is trying to bring back older influences in their design of the exterior, while also making it up to date, it's loosing its clean lines that Swedish cars are known for...

The outside handles of the new 9-3 are supposed to be BLS handles. I took another look... and they are Saab handles on this yellow 9-3. So that brings up the question... "What gives??" That's a bit inconsistent!!!

As for the interior, GM did cheapen them for the 9-5. They used to be chrome metal. Now it's this cheapie plasti-metal material that feels all wrong and flimsy. I don't recall what the 9-3 is, but I think it's the same cheapie plasti-metal material. It shoul dbe chrome metal.

The 9-3 interior is OK. GM did manage to use cheaper plastics in the interior, but it's not so cheap that it really grates on you. But it is noticeable. The 9-5 has that same material. And it's definitely a step down in feel from the previous 9-5 with the padded vinyl-like dash.

I don't think the interior is changing for the 9-3's as it was already updated last year.

Re: Yellow 08 9-3 convertible fully exposed

the convertible will retain the old handles and plastic strip while the ss and sc will lose the strip and handles
