Re: USA Gets Howie Long As Chevy Spokesperson - Brazil Gets...
She is actually a promotional model and TV personality in my homecountry, Chile, the southernmost country in South America. The car displayed is a european Opel Astra, sold here as Chevrolet (we get european Vectras and Zafiras as well) with either the 140 Hp 1.8 litre gasoline four or the 1.9 litre 120 hp diesel. Brazil does not get these, instead they build their own Astra based on the prior generation.
I was at the show where the picture was taken, a motorsports exhibition organized by one of the better technical schools here (and she is quite impressive in person as well )I've test-driven the 1.8 litre and it's really good, as well as great value. And consider that i'm not comparing it to the obsolete Golf IV Volkswagen sells here, but to the current Audi A3. The Audi has a niceier interior (it should,as the cheapest 1.6 is 35% more expensive!) and is better equiped (ESP, Windowbags), the Astra is however the better driving car, grippy, quick turn-in, good acceleration, responsive brakes. Build quality was very good in the unit i drove. I'm very likely to order one next month. |

Good to hear you like the Astra. I'm not sure how long you've been lurking around here, but Saturn is going to the Astra as well in about a year or so. I'm pretty sure this is one of the 2 or 3 versions they're planning on using. I'm not sure about the US, but here in Canada it'd go up squarely against the Mk IV Golf that is still sold here (for some reason that escapes me) along side the Mk V Golf...er...I mean, Rabbit 3 & 5-door + the GTI.

And in Mexico, RBD (a music band spun off from the popular Mexican telenovela Rebelde, based off of the Argentinian telenovela Rebelde Way) is seen promoting everything, even including the Mexican football team during the 2006 World Cup!
EDIT: Decided to give you guys some more Pamela Diaz eye-candy: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0225031/
