When the Mazda 323 Lantis sedan was being sold in Australia, Mazda had no more than 3 different Mazda 323 sedan's on sale in Australia. There was the Mazda 323 "Classic", the all new, at that time, Mazda 323 Protege and the Mazda 323 Lantis. Just some useless information for you..... |

Re: Some serious Chevrolet Lacetti fans over there...!
The Lantis was sold as "Mazda 323F" in Europe, just like the Mazda Astina before (the one with rectractable headlights). The "F" had a somewhat cult status, and at that time Mazda was seen as a more "spirited" Japanese make vs. the dull Toyota... It was all lost when the Lantis was replaced by the 5-door hatch in the last generation of the 323...
Most people are not aware of that, but the Lantis does not share the floorpan directly with the other 323s, but rather it has its own, only shared with the Eunos 500 aka Xedos 6. PS. Don't get me started on trivia or you'll regret it ![]() PS2. This is a Chevrolet Lacetti fan thread, right? ![]() |

Would like to see it though. As to the 323F - the V6 in that ferking car was errrrmazing, absolutely stunning motor in a brilliant car. I think maybe they sacked the entire design department and imagination and style and self-conciousness department when they did the next 323 - which was awful apparently, though I concede I did quite like the facelift which did wonders for the looks... ![]() |
