Saab SUV not to be built on Tribeca platform.

Reading in the current issue of C&D, it says that the next Saab 9-6x(?) would be built on a modified Theta platform. The reason is because the Tribeca platform would have to many modifications for a diesal engine that would be used for the European market.
To be honest, I was relieved reading this. Because I always thought that Subaru should always keep their fantastic Tribeca to themselves because I was fearing a rebadge.

Re: Saab SUV not to be built on Tribeca platform.

Yeah, there was another thread about this floating around here.

But the weird thing is that there are so many ideas about what the next Saab Crossover is supposed to be. And depending on the thread, it's something different.

- "9-6X" will be a Theta.
- "9-6X" will be a cross between Theta and Epsilon II.
- There will be no 9-6X, but there will be a 9-5X based on Epsilon II.
- There will be no 9-6X, but there will be a 9-5X based on Theta.

I think it's pretty ridiculous the ideas that are floating about.

I think using the 9-5X nomenclature would be absolutely stupid. If they use Epsilon II for 9-5... then 9-5X should represent an AWD version of the 9-5 sedan.

Whatever the case may be.... at least Saab is getting produc.

Re: Saab SUV not to be built on Tribeca platform.

Maybe the IDEA of the Tribeca was good...but the designer needs to let go.

I would like to see EpII to be a bit more flexable and allow for a larger sedan like the 9-5 to be built on it.

I was very surprised at NYIAS when we went by Subaru, and my brother and his friend loved the new Tribeca...I do enjoy the looks of the new Forester though.

Today I read the ("ETA" ?) 9-4x will be using the Alfa Q4 Rear Biased AWD system.

Is GM ever gonna know what platform to use? Like we need a $30,000 Theta.

Cadillac "BRX" is supposed to be on Theta. I'd assume that's at $28-34K.

One Of The insiders at another board (Whom I respect Greatly) Posted

Cadillac BTX "H" H being the Greek ETA

I surmise that Theta Plus/Theta Lux/Theta Epsilon is Actually ETA

With The Saab and Cadillac Sharing the Architecture. I'm Guessing there are 4 though.

BTX
9-4x
Kamal
Kubang

The 2 Italians are reported to be on the Premium platform. But I speculate all 4 are related.

OK. So, here is another question. Is Eta the Chevy S3X concept?

I'm just trying to sort things out in my head.

The Only Thing I can say, that I think For Sure Is ETA Are the BTX and 9-4x.

I think The GM Daewoos are Straight Theta.

I Have to say I misinterpreted the "H" reference I Mentioned.

So Theta/Epsilon or Theta plus may not have a "Letter" .
