awesome, this should be really good for GM and suzuki. Under 19 thousand for that baby? I love it! Its good to see solid GM platforms being used by their partners instead of visa versa.

to bad the the torrent was more differentiated like the Vitara...

Re: OFFICIAL 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Website

Sorry but this isn't on the the Theta platform, but Suzuki carried over the previous GV's platform but made it unibody. The Suzuki that will use Theta, however, is the next XL-7 to launch next year around this time. Basically the production version of the Concept X complete with 3-rows and the 3.6L mated to Suzuki's 5-speed transmission.

This is the first Suzuki I would actually look at. Looks really good.

Re: OFFICIAL 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Website

I'm actually looking forward to Suzuki's upcoming lineup. The new Swift, Grand Vitara, XL-7 (THETA), and world-collaborated Verona (aka Daewoo Magnus in Asia, Suzuki Verona in North America -and soon Japan- and Chevrolet Epica in Canada, Europe, and South America). From what insiders are saying about the leaked Chevrolet Europe sketches, the new midsize may be on Epsilon (II?). Here's to hoping!

Looks excellent. I really like the side window design... tinted, the Grand Vitara looks very upscale. It's not outta this world, but does look pretty classy for a Suzuki. Wouldn't take much to make that a nice Saab, actually! This thing should do very well for Suzuki. Should be a great match for the improved Santa Fe.

For real? It shares the rollover hood of all the theta trucks, so I assumed it was a Theta. Also, it has a theta-esque center stack.

I like the new GV but feel the h.p. isn't up to par. 225/250 h.p. would be nice. 185h.p. just isn't enough. Also a 6-speed manual would be nice.

Re: OFFICIAL 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Website

Nope, it's not Theta despite the hood design.

Also, 185HP is only average, nothing spectacular - but what's great is it comes with a 5-speed manual and all models are standard with a form of 4WD and ESP.

The engine is longitudinally-mounted...it's a Suzuki "truck" (body-on-frame, I believe) platform not a GM "car" platform.

Re: OFFICIAL 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Website

Yup, this is for those who have an "active lifestyle" and want to go off-road a lot.

For the next XL-7, Suzuki will use the Theta platform with the 3.6L HF V6 producing 250HP mated to a Suzuki 5-speed automatic. It will come with 3-rows of seating for up to 7-passengers, an optional DVD entertainment system, OnStar, standard side thorax (front passengers) and side-curtain airbags for all 3-rows, and standard ESP with TCS.

Geez. That sounds like it could be a Hyundai. And that was a compliment.
