Re: My/Your Ideal Hummer Lineup (Update 1)

Hummer could use something like an Audi All-road type vehicle. A wagon with adjusytible suspension and big tires and tall ground clearence. It cold be the H3c

Re: My/Your Ideal Hummer Lineup (Update 1)

Hummer H1 - starting at $100,000

Exterior - It is good, always has been good. A few careless tweaks may ruin the vehicle in some ways.

Interior - Major redesign, keep it's utilitarian purpose, but put in unique instrument panels and other interior parts, so it doesn't look cheap.

Notable Features -
Standard Duramax/Allison 6-speed
Low-gear crawl ratio option for better off-roading
Just like AmericanRevolution has stated NO CHROME!!! NO WOOD!!!

Alpha series can be a slightly lifted version with better off-road tires and wheel choices, along with a few adventure accessories

Hummer H2 - starting at $45,000

Exterior - More civilized than the H1, but not as bulky looking as the current H2. Styling should be a lot more similar to the concept shown in 2001, along with bigger options of no chrome or wood. Hummers aren't meant for this stuff. Make it low, but with a high ground clearance like the H1.

Interior - Full redesign, make it more roomy and even more utilitarian than the current one.

Notable Features -
Duramax/Allison 6-speed standard
Washable interior for those tough and dirty adventures outdoors
Low gear crawl ratio for better off-roading
Night vision system like the one shown on the H2 SUT concept.

Alpha version same as H1

Hummer H3 - Starting at $25,000

Exterior - More like the H3T concept, but with full color-keyed options as well. Current one is good enough, but the rear window could use a fix for visibility.

Interior - Umm...current interior is pretty good. But, a new one could be more utilitarian like the H1.

Notable Features -
Baby Duramax with maybe an Allison 6-speed
Washable interior like the Avalanche or Envoy XUV

Alpha series could include, again, a slight lift, larger tires, wheel choices, but maybe more color choices as well.

Hummer HX - Starting at $20,000

Exterior - Maybe H3T inspired, but with a small pickup bed. This could be a Wrangler like Hummer, but with a hardtop that can be stowed onboard, or maybe put on parts of the vehicle to be used as off-road accessories.

Interior - HX will be small, so a good interior that is utilitarian, but comfortable will be good. It can also work well with extreme off-road adventures, meaning it can be dirtied or abused in any way.

Features -
I doubt GM will build a small, small, diesel for a Wrangler sized truck, so it could maybe have a Vortec, with DOD, and a small hybrid feature
Changeable body parts

Alpha series can be like the Rubicon for Jeep, which includes lift, larger wheels and off-road tires, and maybe a tougher bull-bumper setup.

Hummer HXT??? - Starting at $30,000

I know how many of you feel Hummer shouldn't go as far as full-size pickup trucks, but this is just a crazy idea, not my wish for GM to do one day.

It would come in shortbed only, but with the option of dual rear wheels. This is a Hummer, so it would be made to tow heavy stuff on rough terrain, and have special towing engineering to enable it to tow stuff through terrain a superduty would get stuck in...

Alpha series would include lift, larger tires, special towing package...

Well, there's my ideal lineup...hopefully I didn't post too much.

Re: My/Your Ideal Hummer Lineup (Update 1)

a H3T deffinatly needs to be in the lineup, If and when they come out with one
I will be the first to order one, But it needs a similar Advennture pkg. to the H3, but also needs a Alpha or performance model with more HP. If they do release the H3 with nothing more than the run of the mill 3.5l I5, I would not buy one, the 3.5 barley is enough for a Colorado Z71 with the 5-spd( Gm needs to take some tips from Toyota and Nissan on building small pickups). so ideal truck would be

H3T
Turbo 3.5l I5 or 4.2 I6
6-spd manual, 5-spd auto
Adventure pkg. similar to H3 with 285's

Re: My/Your Ideal Hummer Lineup (Update 1)

I disagree w/ a performance version... Hummer isn't about winning street races, it's all about the off-road. If you want a status-quo SUV that you wont take off-road, you can have your Caddy! That's how I feel. After all, Hummer also isn't about selling a million cars a year - it's a small, niche brand originally for just the military. Keep it a small niche-filling brand.

Dude, dual wheels in the rear are terrible for off road. I don't think anyone would have a use for that vehicle. It was a nice thought though.

........

I agree with what most of you guys are saying for the H1, H2, and H3.
Also, there should be an H4/HX wrangler size off-roader.

Now, work with me here, the H3 is made using a crew cab Colorado/Canyon frame. So an H4/HX could use a beefed up extended cab frame. Shorten the box length from 6 ft to 3 ft, and move the rear axle foreward about 16 inches. Also, instead of squeezing the 2nd row passengers into that little space in the ext cab, put the rear bench on top of the foremost part of the bed, so the passengers would have enough room in the back. There could be a removable top that covers the small bed and rear seats or just the rear bench. For an engine, the I5 or 3900 V6 would work nicely.

Re: My/Your Ideal Hummer Lineup (Update 1)

Hummer has come along far since the turn of the century. I mean, they were a very rare brand to see and now they are everywhere.
