Those Saab clutches are touchy to begin with. I've created a bad smell more than a few times, although I have yet to break it.

Yeah, I test drove a 2007 Aero with a manual last fall. A blast to drive with a sweetheart of an engine, but it took me a few minutes to get used to the clutch.

As for the Turbo X......bummer!

Reminds me of the time i did a test drive in a go-cart. Needless to say, it went about like this did, and i almost destroyed an indestructable(sp?) clucth.

Put enough curves on the course, and that STi's all wheel drive will be a huge advantage.

But still, against a new M3? And how did it beat the STi in the wet? I'm just really curious.

I know the new STi is overall an improvement over my '05 STi but still...

There is a screen shot of a computer monitor in that article showing the details of the times. The STi was within 2mph of the M3's top speed, average speed was just over 1mph faster and the average lap time was almost 4 tenths quicker. I love my STi and would love to have a new one but I almost can't believe it was quicker. I would think the M3 would be quicker on almost any track.

One thing: The stock STi is not a great track car...pretty much every one in the Suby community would probably agree with me on that. Which is another reason why I am shocked. However with 2 or 3 tweaks...
