Re: GMC Typhoon
fwiw..as a three time buyer of GMC trucks
2000 Jimmy 2002 Envoy 2005 Envoy. The wife wants an inexpensive AWD vehicle. Even though the Envoy is an excellent vehicle that she likes... She doesn't want a third. She doesn't want a larger truck. She doesn't want 3 row seating. She didn't like the thin doors of the equinox. She didn't like the Torrent either. A GMC Typhoon would be perfect for her. Just hope they put big @ss tires on that thing. The little donut wheels on the Saturn really look whimpy. Wife doesn't want to own a Saturn as we don't get to use our GM bonus points. Thanks for the heads up. Hope they give that typhoon BIG WHEELS. Otherwise its off to a SRX if I can get a good deal on one. Keep us up to date on information if you could.

Re: GMC Typhoon
^^^ Geez, atleast your wife isnt picky! JJ. Sounds like a Envoy is just what she wants. You've ruled out the smaller AWD SUV's like Equinox, Torrent, Vue, as well as larger AWD's like Tahoe, Yukon, Silvy. The Envoy, TB, set right in the middle of all of that. A Typhoon would be based off of the Envoy anyway so it would be essentially what you already have, and what she dosent want another of, plus since it will be a sports SUV it will be expensive like the TB/SS. Sounds like to me she wants a Envoy, I know you said she dosent want a 3rd one, but there isnt much else out there unless you get a new Arcadia, but start loading them up and they get kinda pricy! Or you could get a new Toyota Rav4, I have heard they are really nice......

Re: GMC Typhoon
^^^ I figured if she dosent want another Envoy, she wont want the sibling TB. Plus the AWD TB/SS starts at $35,000, not exactly what I call "inexpensive". I guess nobody was impressed with my Rav4 joke?

Re: GMC Typhoon
Thanks guys...
I suggested and she liked the idea of a solstice gxp and a small suv as a winter driver... Might do that and probably cost about the same... I was hoping the GMC typhoon would be based off the Saturn Vue or I might lease an equinox or TB for 27 months and wait for the cadillac small CUV to hit. Or might just get a SRX ..... I have a few months before I even get serious looking. I might sneak in the upcoming CTS with AWD but the low ride height might be a deal breaker. She wants AWD.

Re: GMC Typhoon
The next Torrent is going to GMC. It will be based off of the Chevy Captiva.

. I must be in the wrong buisness! I hope u both agree on something. As for me, I would wait for the new CTS w/AWD & 6-speed manual! The way to deal with your wife is to tell her what she wants to hear, and then get whatever you wanted to anyway. It works great, believe me I do it all the time. a SRX AWD would be a nice option also, but I didnt concider it inexpensive so I didnt think about it.

Re: GMC Typhoon
Im driving a corvette Z06. I enjoy everyday driving this wild @ss ride!
I want my wife to get whatever the hell she wants. One funny thing along the way ...I learned is I don't tell her what she wants. As she is approaching 50 soon I thought the solstice GXP would be a fun way to keep her young and beautiful.. in both mind and spirit. Its worked for me with the vette...(and then just get a little AWD CUV for wintery snow day duty) Lately she seems to be bailing on the idea of a Solstice GXP (impractical blah..blah two seater) ...so... I just throw out ideas for what she might like, give her the pluses and minus'and let her decide. Its served me well over the years. I think your idea of a CTS AWD...and might do that if the issue of ground clearance for snow is not a factor. I was hoping to see a GMC Typhoon based off the Saturn with some Big @ss tires.. Would have worked for what I think my family needs. Well I'll be watching this web site for information on the 08 model year. If its what I envision or imagine...The typhoon might do the trick... Sorry to go off topic and personalise these past few posts.. I enjoy this site. Really good people and great automotive news .. Probably the best on the net. JB

Re: GMC Typhoon
I admire your situation. Once your married, have kids and in my instance have a severely handicapped child you don't quite care as much about telling your spouse what she should have. Its more a situation of trying to help your spouse get through such a difficult thing and have a few laughs about things like cars along the way.
I tried giving my wife my 1999 mint C5 A4 that ran consistantl 12..90's @ 109.5 at englishtown but she didn't want it. (even though the car was mint and low 20K miles when I sold it) I recently offered to buy her a silver C6 A6 coupe and she doesn't want that either. but she liked the look of the solstice GXP and liked driving one..but the whole deal opening the convertible roof to get into the trunks a situation she doesn't want to deal with. My wife doesn't drive a stick shift and doesnt want to learn so no she' s not driven my Z. Come to think of it she never wanted to drive my 1999 C5 either. My 11 year old son digs cruising in the vette with me though and its a cool father son experience for us. Here's her list of negatives: Too low Too loud List of positives: Looks great. I would hope the typhoon hits as a restyled VUE with big @ss tires. That would be an ideal vehicle for our needs as the 05 Envoys lease will be up this fall. Keep us updated on the typhoon if you could.. Quote:

Re: GMC Typhoon
the typhoon should be based of the trailblazer or envoy and given one of the 2 vette engines (if it fits). or the 6.2 in the denali.
