Re: GM needs SAAB more than Buick or Pontiac

should have regional markets using global cars i.e. Holden would be building Sedans and limos, at the same time using Daewoo small and cheap cars and at the same time they should be acquiring American SUV's etc. GM NA should be doing the same thing with one brand i.e. GM using Holden sedans, Daewoo cheap cars, American SUV's and American specialty cars like corvette etc. Having multiple brands owned by one company at the same market battling against each other isnt the way to go....................

In order to survive and be competitive GM should get rid of as many of its American brands and create a one huge GM brand that uses cars from all these smaller brands.

That won't happen though because of the cost and the dealers.

The issue for Saab remains its reputation of "Quirky vehicles" and its limited dealership network, which is hindered by lack of product.

Once Saab has 4-5 fleshed out lines, the dealership network will grow, and sales will drastically improve.

Buick is important to GM for one reason -- China.
In China, Buick is better than Gold. What GM needs to do is fight tooth and nail to maintain that image in China. This means bringing Enclave to China before Lexus can launch the RX or LX or GX. ANd it means maintaining competitive and stylish vehicles. ANd if it means bringing down the price, sell these vehicles in the US. THey're a heck of a lot better than US Buicks.

Pontiac will do well if they take a page out of Opel/Saturn and become the US version of Holden.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Saab just needs new and better products that can compete and/or exceed in its class, especially against Volvo which is its main and only Swedish competitor.

Saab is GM's technology nugget. If we got rid of it, we would be losing a lot technology that is "saving" GM right now. (E85, E100, Hybrids, Turbo)
SAAB is GM's technology nugget? Wake me up when Saab makes GM a profit.
