Drove SAAB 9-3 Aero
Wasn't expecting it, but this was a nice car. The throw on the trans was odd, but could learn to use it. The key thing was very weird, but the refridgerated glovebox was very cool! I wasn't expecting to like this car so much, it handled very, very well, was extremely nimble, and accelerated well. It was also a nice looking car as well. I was very impressed, and it was pretty comfortable up front. The rear seat area was awful, like every car this size. We are thinking about adding a SAAB to the stable. The 6cyl really liked to rev, and the car pulled well in third. I felt in control, and the seats were very conforming. THought I would share that. ALso drove the G6 GTP, wasn't expecting that car to handle as well as it did. A lot of torque steer when you floor it, but it really drove quit well, and also had a nice interior. Looks like GM is getting back into the car business again....

Re: Drove SAAB 9-3 Aero
Saabs are pretty unique cars, but they're nice cars. I think they don't get the same kind of positive reviews as BMW's or Mercedes-Benz's is because they are a lot different and are for a certain type of people I suppose.

Re: Drove SAAB 9-3 Aero
as a used car, Saabs are a fantastic deal. They run for ever, and because they are mainly fleet cars (over here) their resale is very bad. Which means you can pick up at 2 year old car for 50% of the new price.
I bought a 4 year old Saab (last of the proper hatchback 9-3s before they made them much worse with the sedan) with 50,000 miles for peanuts.... |

Re: Drove SAAB 9-3 Aero
I have an 04 9-3 Aero (it has the 2.0T engine) and I love my car. Anyone that has a manual 9-3..knows that 3rd is its favorite gear. Sometimes the car seems slow off the start, but get it into 3rd..and you are golden
Redcoat is definetly right, I basically stole my Aero for how low of price I got it.

Re: Drove SAAB 9-3 Aero
The 2003 and up 9-3; what is it based on, if anything? Does it share bits with other cars?

Re: Drove SAAB 9-3 Aero
Epsilon. But its the European variant of Epsilon. So it shares with the Opel Vecta and Caddy BLS.

Re: Drove SAAB 9-3 Aero
BLS built at same plant as 9-3 to try to use excess capacity. BLS is functionally identical to 9-3 Aero, especially drivetains. Both are significantly more narrow than US Epsilons. Vectra in top line variant now puts out well over 300HP and is by far the most formidable Epsilon in terms of sheer performance.
