Cool Heritage timeline on Oldsmobile.com

Now that Olds is finished selling cars, GM has put a pretty interesting timeline on the website with photos, videos, old advertising and information. I'm frankly surprised that they spent the time and money to create it but a brand that old certainly deserves one last look back.

http://www.oldsmobile.com/olds/heritage/index.html

I see this info has been mentioned in another post...sorry for the duplication.

Re: Cool Heritage timeline on Oldsmobile.com

Very cool, though I wish it was a bit more complete, and I'm not entirely impressed with the picture of the 1968 "Cutless" 442. Something I've always wished for was a website that simply had all the info I could ever want on EVERY car... there's a pretty good site on Oldsmobiles, but even it's not complete, and I'd love one that has every make and model.

I tried to make one at http://autos.wikispaces.com/ but it never really got any attention. Some guy stuck his Camaro on recently, but that wasn't really the point. Oh well.

Olds deserved to go. I don't call my mom's 2001 Alero "The Clown Car" for nothing.

Re: Cool Heritage timeline on Oldsmobile.com

It's a sweet timeline I like it a lot. I'm sad that Oldsmobile left, I've been quite happy with mine, no problems at all, V6 power's great, gas mileage is awesome and filling up is cheap because of the small tank.

I Tell You From Just Driving An Alero At The Dealership, And Working On Them That The 3.4L Has Some Spike, But Gosh It SUCKS The Gas, When Your Foots In It.

Worse Than That, It Gets Worse Gas Mileage Than My 5.3L When You Punch It, And Thats Bad Bc Thats Feeding Two More Cyl

I drive all the time and trust me, I don't have a light foot, but I don't necessarily floor it all the time. So essentially I don't go slow but the car has tons of power that you don't really need to floor it. Anyway my point is, I don't have a problem with gas mileage, in fact considering it's got a small tank, it's surprisingly good and cheap to fill. I can drive around 100-200 kms and the gauge will go down around perhaps 1/4 at the most. Perhaps if you floor it a lot it will go down a lot faster but even with a heavier foot, it's not like it guzzles like a big huge SUV.

Yeah, I Dunno It Just Seems Like IT Takes More Gas Than My 5.3L When You Punch It, But I Guess Its Just The Gas Tanks That Are Different.

Yah, I mean the Alero's tank is just under 12 gallons where the 5.3L has a much larger tank. Still, I'm quite surprised that it gets such good mileage, especially with a big V6 like that.

I'm actually thinking of getting an Alero sedan with the 2.2 Ecotec and 5 spd. Am I right expect ~40 hwy mpg with that combo?
