Anyone else think the Chevy Trax Concept would make a good Suzuki Sidekick?

Like the best-selling Suzuki model Forenza/Reno, it would also be a GM Daewoo made car...

With AWD, preferably something like the i-AWD setup on the SX4?

Needs to be a AWD to be a Tracker. Make it AWD with alittle more power I would agree.

With AWD and size this would be a good tracker/Samurai to be introduced to the market...

Fits suzuki's image of being sporty/rugged for people with "adventerous lifestyle"

I actually think that this would make a cute mini car for Jeep....why not since they already diluted the brand with the compass.

Yes that'd make a nice replacement for it, if they do replace the Vitara.

Sadly I doubt they will - they have a small 4x4; SX4 with 2WD and AWD, and a larger 4x4, Grand Vitara, and then XL7.

Shame, because that'd be nice as a Suzuki.

For Europe and Asia it would be Jimny v2.0 if uit had AWD and offroading characteristics

But where would Jimny fit it? We already have a small thing (SX4), a medium sized suv, (Grand Vitara) so what purpose would it serve other than a marketing perk?

Re: Anyone else think the Chevy Trax Concept would make a good Suzuki Sidekick?

Jimny's getting long in tooth and should be replaced by 2010, about the time these little babies would hit the street. Suzuki own a sizeable chunk of Daewoo and I'm sure they'd welcome an entry-level model for markets that may not warm to the oddball JDM mini-Suzukis. I wouldn't be surprised if Suzuki's involvement in Daewoo is why these microcompacts are so well-sorted, given Suzuki's track record with micro cars. I read recently that Suzuki have taken the #2 spot from Nissan on the JDM. That's pretty impressive.

Give it a little more power and it would be good to go IMO!

Re: Anyone else think the Chevy Trax Concept would make a good Suzuki Sidekick?

Suzuki? Perhaps, but needs to have its styling Suzukified... Samurai/Jimny replacement? No - the basic premise of the Samurai was a perfectly offroad-capable chassis, something the Jimny is apparently carrying on with, but I doubt that the old Alto chassis which, rehashed many times, made its way into the current Matiz, would afford such qualities...

That said - as a way of selling the Matiz to the Americans, this can be a very good choice!
