Where Does the K2XX Fall Short for You?

Even though we are judging the writing in the book by its synopsis, what is it about this truck that does not check off all the boxes for you? Or what is it about this truck that makes you apprehensive as a prospective buyer?

    For me:
No 8' bed option on the extra cab, which is a deal breaker. (I've not been vocal about this at all! )

Interior space, tapered wheel wells, placement of interior controls, 6.2L not available across all trims.

Without knowing engine specs, gas mileage, pricing, or the final feature/order combinations, this thread is too early for me.

I'd have liked to see an LTZ regular cab, but that's about it for now.

Re: Where Does the K2XX Fall Short for You?

    Since you asked:

And I'll even quantify each, by classifying as (minor), (significant), and (border-line-deal-breaker) levels.

    1) Chassis; from what we've heard, it sounds like minimal changes in frame or suspension - (minor)
    2) However, tied to the minimal chassis changes means, wheelbase, means the Crew-Cabs won't grow to match Ford or Dodge - (border-line-deal-breaker)
    3) Also tied to to the suspect "no-change" wheel-base, the added B-Pillar in the Extended-Cabs looks like its made the 2nd row in-accessible for large adults - (border-line-deal-breaker)
    3) Dashboard, just doesn't look good, unless its with buckets & floor console, I like the steering wheel & I/C, and would likely buy buckets & floor console - (minor)
    4) Sierra Headlights, too busy - (minor)
    5) Silverado "modernized Retro Circa 1984 front end" via photos, I'm not digging it, (in person may be better) - (significant)
    6) "GM Truck Brothers" transformed to "Twins" - The trucks appear to have gone from "brothers" to Fraternal twins, looking more alike than anytime in the last 15 years. - (minor)

New/Updated Power-trains is a positive, and details are yet to be known, those tied with minor chassis changes will likely push towing capacity up, but that doesn't do many any good, the current trucks have more than enough towing capability for most of us, and if you frequently tow at or near limits, people buy a 3/4 ton, so its more of a advertisement marketing statement.

If they had launched this 2014 without all new engines, would this be any different than the infamous "MCE masqueraded as an all new model" that was the 2012 Toyota Camry?

The details that we've yet to hear will determine how true or false this really is.

40k too much powertrain warranty vs Ford.

    Total fail.

No diesel option... or simply said, they didn't show me the HD2500 version. I would park my Z06 and CTSV Coupe for a week to run **** over in that

Re: Where Does the K2XX Fall Short for You?

It's an honest question to others about a GM product. I hold as much allegiance to an auto manufacturer as they do to me, i.e. I give them money, they give me vehicle in return. That being said, I'm here for a reason, because I like GM trucks. I've driven quite a few from different manufacturers through out the years and still have a '96 K1500 as my extra vehicle. It's early in the game, but from the initial reaction it's interesting to me to see what turns people off a product, which further helps show GM's tactic in the segment.

Why isn't there a driver side grab handle?

I'm just as upset as you are about that, but gm isn't the only one. Ram only offers an eight food bed on the regular cab and ford only offers the supercab with 8 foot bed on the sxt trim. Looks like gm is the last to give it up.

This thread points out the failure of these trucks - GM hasn't sold a single one!

Nail on the head. This is exactly the thing that brought Government Motors to bankruptcy.

Apparently from the spyshots and vids, there's no standard supply of Viagra in the glovebox for all the small *****es whining about a much-improved product that hasn't even been released yet.

No fails yet. The truck isn't on the market and all the details are still under wraps so I shall be hanging tight before judging.
