Question about the employee pricing for everyone deal

I am interested in buying a Avalanche. The one I picked out has a MSRP of $38,610. On the GMbuypower website with the employee pricing on this truck the price is $29,775.95.

I don't know much about this new offer they are doing. I just found it today. Is this a legitimate offer, no strings attached? That is one heck of a price drop I listed above almost 10k. Bottom line how much would I end up paying for this truck to get it off the lot based on the above price? I have never bough a new vehicle in my life before so I don't know all the tips and secrets.

Is there any tips or tricks I need to know about before I buy this truck so I can save myself some money and not get ripped by the dealer?

Re: Question about the employee pricing for everyone deal

I have purchased all of my vehicles under the GM Employee discount because my brother in law works for GM. The GMS price you have there is the employee price plus the rebate that GM has for that vehicle. The way it has worked for me has been that GMS price you have is the price you pay plus tax, title, and any other fees. The only negating you can work with is the value of your trade if you have one.

Also I think the GMS price depends upon if the dealer is participating in the program.

ask them about the vehicle being on there lot for over 120 days. i got an extra 1 grand off my monte for having one that was on there lot for over 120 days. every dealer can do it to. even if they say they cant.

It claims in a commercial from local dealerships around here, YOU pay what we pay, OR even less. No strings attached

Re: Question about the employee pricing for everyone deal

I would like to also ask a question through this thread....

Why are the dealers prices after the discount 2-3K more than the exact same truck on the web site ...I mean exactly the same right down to the color.... what gives...? I thought this was no haggle... should the dealer be jacking the price? The other thing I have found is the dealers have jacked up their prices per the amount of the discount and then apply the discount and I would end up buying the truck for the MSRP price the Chevrolet.com price... so really in the end I have found this to not be a good deal. And think the dealers in the end will hurt this "great opertunity" I am disappointed in the dealers... I have always owned chevy or GM.... I think the company is great!!! I am starting to think now that the problems lies with the dealers!

Any help would be great!!!!

Print out the sticker of the exact vehicle you are considering at the dealer. Show to them, and tell them that is the price you want. If they give you a bunch of BS that they have to raise the price, walk out and say you will do your business elsewhere and send GM an E-Mail about that dealership scamming you.

Re: Question about the employee pricing for everyone deal

Thanks NSAP!

I will do that. I have designed and built the truck again and printed out the price sheet. I will take it with me this afternoon see what they say... and like it was said, If they give some reason why they have different prices then I will walk... we'll see if they let me walk out the door? And if they do I will go somewhere else!
Thanks again!

Just remember that you have to take delivery by July 5th. So make sure they have what you want on the lot, or that its a readily-available configuration that they can get from another dealer.

Re: Question about the employee pricing for everyone deal

I just bought my Tahoe 2 weeks ago and the pricing for the sale saved me over 10K! 6 months ago I priced a Tahoe with the options I wanted and it listed for just over $51K. Out the door with tax and such, I payed just under $44K.

Too bad they don't offer the pricing on Vettes.

Re: Question about the employee pricing for everyone deal

GM Employee pricing is a joke if you have a trade, the other day we went down to our chevy dealer and looked at new tahoes, the tahoe had a sticker price of 40,583 and the employee price was 31,612 whick was good now we took the trailblazer 2003 4x4 28,000 miles still looks like it came off the showroom floor, they only wanted to give her now get this 13,000 dollars for it and man I went off I told the guy YOU have 2002s with the same equiptment over there with 48 to 50,000 miles on the lot and your asking 20 to 22,000 dollars for them WTF man he couldnt answer me.Before this so called employee pricing started the trailblazer was appraised for 19,000$ so ruffley 9900$ off the tahoe and giving us 9000$ less for the trade from what there going to sell it for, hummmm looks like they got almost all there money back with the differance in the employee pricing,p.s wasnt only this dealer we got this from, the others were in the same ballpark. There not giving you NOTHING if you have a trade.

Re: Question about the employee pricing for everyone deal

Smaller dealers really hate this GM employee thing because they don't have a lot of money to begin with. Large dealers on the other hand, love it because the extra units are just as valuable to them. So what I'm saying is, from what I've heard, some dealerships are playing games for one reason or another. But as it is designed from GM you should be able to walk into a reputable dealer and get the GM Employee price from them plus the rebates, add tax title and licence and have your no haggle out the door price.

GM Employee price is printed on the invoice. Ask to see it. If they won't show you, leave immediately because something is up. Thats is really the only thing you need to do to make sure it's on the up and up. Now, your probably not going to get as much for you trade as you are hoping for and its not the dealer just trying to screw you. You have to understand that they are selling you a new car for wholesale. That means thay can only give you wholesale for your trade, and since there isn't any extra money in the deal (mark up) they can't show you much of anything extra. Not to mention that the wholesale market has taken a nose dive do to the fact that all the new cars are being sold for wholesale and the market is being flooded with new cars. I'm not saying don't ask for more on your trade, always do that, but don't freak out when they can't show you much more.
