If I were to buy a Hummer this would be the one. Still room for 5 and not too small of a cargo area.

I love to have one, but the crazy environmentalists might go crazy and attack me.

You can get a Silverado 1500 crew cab for less than that (and that is not even counting the current $5,000 on the Silverado's hood). Would someone please explain why you would pay more for a Hummer H3 than for a Silverado?

It will be an even nicer price when GM slaps a $2500 rebate on them six months after it goes on sale.

Because the Silverado cant handle the off-road conditions the HUMMER can.

If that is why people buy Hummers, it certainly explains the sales figures.

For comparison (of sorts), I just saw a loaded 4-door Wrangler last weekend at the Maryland Six Flags for 35k and change.

Re: HUMMER Releases 2009 H3T Pickup Pricing

I Think that this vehicle would do better as a serious Xterra/4 Runner competior with a base 2WD 5 speed manual version that costs less and gets a little better MPG.

Though it's not outrageously priced I have often thought that Hummer could do better with this vehicle.

Base 5speed 3.7 I5 H3's(yeah the base is a 5speed but I have neve seen one) start at

$31,340.

For comparision a 4WD Xterra with an 5speed and a 4.0 litre V6 $24,335
4WD 4Runner with a 4.0 litre V6 and an automatic $31,375.
4WD Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport 3.7 V6/Auto $32,120

Though the I5 is actually more competetive power and economy wise with the Xterra and 4Runner that some would think...

Hp/Tq

Hummmer 242/242

Xterra 261/281

4Runner 236/266

Jeep Grand Cherokee 210/235

MPG is pretty good actually when you compare the 4WD only H3, albeit manual to other 2WD competitors.

city/hwy

Hummer 13/18

Xterra 15/20

4Runner 15/19

Grand Cherokee 15/20

If they could slip in either a turbo, DI or even the non-DI 3.6 DOHC engine and another gear in both the manual and the automatic, maybe a slight diet might help too, the H3 is about 300-400 lbs heaviner than that some of it's competitors.

They could consider offering a base model H3 2WD with the 2800 4 cylinder from the Colorado/Canyon, true that it would not be a rocket but the weight savings of a 2WD H3 could help make it a little more bearable,

There chunky 3825 lb(864 less than a H3) base 4 cylinder VUE gets along OK with the 2.4 DOHC and it gets 19/26 in 2wd and a 3722lb (967 less than an H3)2WD Colorado Crew Cab automatic with the 2800 Vortec 4 gets 18/24.

How much weight can be taken of an H3 and how tough does it "need" to be since 95% of them will never be used to their maximum capacity, could Hummer be better served by selling an H3 that is little more than a SUV version of the Colorado/Canyon and then offering an "Off-Road" package for those who are serious.

I'll consider one of these myself. I typically have a pickup around my property for hauling boats and firewood. When I turned in my '04 Silverado, I disliked the GMT-900 pickups, so I didn't get one.

I like the size of the H3T, and don't need a V-8 nor 12,000 pound towing capacity. I'll probably give the H3T a close look.

I spotted one a while back and it looked awesome. This may be a consideration for me in the future

A nice swansong for a GM's most unique and newly dead brand.

It's really quite a shame.

Yeah - How many Hummers actually go offroad to the point where they utilize their off road capabilities to the max? I bet it is less then 20% of them. Most of them have 26" rims and monster stereos in them and couldn't handle driving in an inch of snow.
