Guesses on output for 2014 Silverado/Sierra?

Official power ratings have not been announced for the 2014 Silverado and Sierra, but I'd like to venture some guesses, and I'd invite anyone else to chime in with their thoughts. Here are some semi-educated guesses:

    4.3 V-6: 285 hp/305 lb-ft
    5.3 V-8: 355 hp/375 lb-ft
    6.2 V-8: 430 hp/450 lb-ft

    What do you guys think?

My guesses are very close to your guesses:

    4.3L V6: 290 HP and 305 TQ
    5.3L V8: 375 HP and 385 TQ
    6.2L V8: 430 HP and 450 TQ.
    Current:

    2014 Cadillac ATS4 3.6L Premium Collection

    2006 GMC Envoy SLT 4x4

    Past:

    2013 Cadillac ATS4 3.6L Premium Collection -> LEMON

    2011 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ V6

My inside sources are saying this: (These are from my previous posts 2-3 months ago)

    4.3 V-6: 285 hp/303 lb-ft
    5.3 V-8: 350 hp/374 lb-ft
    6.2 V-8: 438 hp/455 lb-ft

GM will be able to say "best V6 Torque" (except ecoboost), most powerful available V8,

Re: Guesses on output for 2014 Silverado/Sierra?

I know trucks need torque more than they need horsepower, but it's my impression that variable valve timing and direct injection make it easier to bump horsepower than torque. Look at the 3.6 V6, adding direct injection moved horsepower up 50 when they first added it, but only moved torque 20 or 30 foot pounds. I'm sure GM can use every foot pound of torque in the 3.6 that they make with the 5000 pound Lambda SUVs, but they only have 275 foot pounds or less, not even 10% more than the engine had before direct injection.

So my guesses are that GM will cap horsepower just so the engines don't artificially look weak in torque, but the torque jumps won't be quite as good as we hope:
    290/290 for the V6
    365/365 for the 5.3
    430/430 for the 6.2

I'm really pleased the V6 is getting cylinder deactivation - as long as it gives real world results.

    4.3 V6 - 310 hp,
    V8s:
    5.3 - 360 hp
    6.2 - 450 hp
My 310 guess is based on them claiming top power among na V6s.

Where did they claim "top power among na V6's"? I only see where they claim top Torque!

With so many mechanical updates, these new engines will likely beat Ford's in most if not all ratings. The bigger displacement and addition of DI will yield bigger numbers such as the following:

    4.3L V6: 310 HP/315 lb. ft. of TQ (Ford's 3.7L 4v V6 is rated at 302/278)
    5.3L V8: 370 HP/375 lb. ft. of TQ (Ford's 5.0L 4v V8 is rated at 360/380)

The 6.2L V8 will likely see an improvement to 420 HP/430 lb. ft. of TQ from 403/417 (Ford's 6.2L 2v V8 is rated at 411/434).
Buy American. Buy Ford. So say we all!

I think that many of you are overestimating the TQ on the V6.

V6 is going to be around 307/290.

    5.3 will be around 360/360.

    6.2 will be 435/445.
Just that time again to ignore certain people. I'm certain they will continue to try and instigate and antagonize while throwing up their arms saying they did nothing but are here on a civil basis. Not worth the time seeing how some just seem to know all.

v6 280/310 no replacement for displacement. if ford can get 280 from a 3.7 gm should manage over 300 from 4.3 liters.
    5.3 360/370
    6.2 440/440

The 3.6 from Dodge has over 300 hp. 4.3 is large for a V6.

They haven't (yet.) I'm guessing that with the size and technology employed, that the engine will be powerful as well, with an earlier discussion saying that the V6 would have the power of the current 5.3 (315-320 hp.) That is why I am guessing they will claim top power as well, with the power approaching the 315 hp of the 5.3.

    I've driven the 4.3 and 5.3. I'd say the 4.3 is certainly within +/- 5% of 300 horsepower. I don't have a strong idea on the 5.3L, but 350 feels about right.

I fully expect "Your mileage may vary" will rear its head in real-world driving, with a light foot on the gas pedal and a light load could well mean high 20s for the V6.
I know that my Tahoe has the "old 5.3" as a 2011, but by keeping near the speed limits and proper maintenance (and tire pressure), my Tahoe consistently gets 20 mpg on the highway. In a recent trip to the Frank Brown Song-writers Festival in Gulf Shores, I averaged 19.86 for the entire trip, with the highway mileage above 20.
Now throw in the advances that the all-new "Eco-Vortec" V6 and V8s, and I would think 25-27 mpg is do-able with the V6, and 22-23 with the 5.3. Time will tell, of course, and I think the real gains will require the 8 speed auto and the next-generation with some real weight losses, unlike the new (heavy mce) 2014 trucks.
