Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

What will be the difference in height of the new trucks vs the old? The specs on the tahoes are virtually identical either 2 or 4 wheel drive in terms of height. I want the Z71's to sit up high, and I want the 2wd's to be able to take a curb without getting hung up.

Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

James thanks for coming back, I am waiting on a dealer call to see if they located a 2006 2500HD Duramax extended 4x4. Price seems right should I wait. I understand the HD's won't be delivered until late 06. Any idea on pricing on the 07's

Thanks

Did any of you guys see Autoline Detroit on the Speed Channel Nov. 27th? Or maybe it was the 20th I can't remember... They did a little segment on the new Escalade and they showed the ESV and the EXT also. I think I still have it on my Tivo, maybe I can get some pics off it. Anyway that's a good show you should check it out on Sunday mornings.

Edit: Can someone check out the video on the website http://www.theautolink.com/autoline/archives_2005.html The second episode from the top is the Escalade one. I don't have Real Player on my work computer so I can't see it. I don't know if they have the whole episode on there or what.

Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

Even though I spent more time lurking before joining and posting, I still want to say, James, welcome back!! I'm glad you are here and look forward to hearing more info.

I will be at NAIAS and although I not holding my breath, I am still hoping that GM might show the GMT-900 Silverado or Sierra. Now we just need a GMT-900 RCSB Silverado SS w/ about 500 hp!

Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

welcome back, James. I was also wondering about the off road capability of these trucks. They really blew that with the Tahoe. A shame since the Lambas will be taking sales for the soccer moms, and some other truck based competitor will take the Tahoe's off road sales.

I don't want a bulldozer front end like the current trucks. I HATE low to the ground trucks. Full sizers should look big and tough. Every competitor embarrasses GM in that. I guess the new Tahoe's are for the street crowd- like the Escalade can't handle that!

Any word on IFS/SFA ? I'm curoius about the frames too, boxed (welded together C-channel) or box tube ? Dimensions ? I would love to see GM finally pony up with a neat, strong and easy adaptable frame ! Right material, dimension, kinks, angles, thickness, crossmembers, etc. - easy buildable and adaptable that's easier to modify and work on, it'll give a greater aftermarket ! Almost like Jeep and Toyota have managed, they could probably cooperate with the aftermarket suppliers and make some money too ! I would be all over that idea if (when ?) I had my own brand.

Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

I think that the 07's will be 800's and the 08's will be 900's.

We will be changing over to 07's early in 2006... (still the same old 800's) then start making 900's in November. But, "I am guessing here", to be sold as 2008's, but can't be sold until Jan. 2

At least that is what they are telling us at F.W. plant. They are not telling us much.
