Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

Come on guys. Cant we all just get along? OK I admit that was probably a little lame. But seriously, Hey Now, post your thoughts about the information and not about an individual. James, post your information that you know is correct and just ignore a post if somebody badmouths the information. Or dont take these sugestions. What do I care? A little fight never hurts anybody, just dont let it get out of hand.

YES! JUST CHILL!!! Both of yall need to calm down and have a pinch or something.

Better yet lets change the subject. How do the interiors in the trucks vary from the SUV's?

What are some of the technical specs on the trucks?

Is there a divider between the front seats and back seats to prevent squabbling (James and Hey Now)?

Hey Now, just let it go.

Yeah, I had a 1977 GMC with the 250 inline six...guess what engine block GM is using for the 4.2L. That's right- the 250 ci block. Think it is a coincidence that the 5.3L engine is a 327ci engine? How about the 6.0L?- they have been using 366ci engines in Chevy Top Kicks and Kodiacs since the early nineties. Different heads, collant chambers, and material, but pretty much out of the parts bin. Thsi means the 4.2L would fit whereever the 250 did, except the 4.2 is considerably taller, but no longer. Engines are used today in crash protection, so that may have something to do with it....

I'll be very angry if the 4.2L (or 4.4L by then) doesn't make itinto the 900s. GM would be the indisputible champion in cheap work truck fleets- that 4.2L's lifespan was projected at over 250000 miles....it is a gem, and GM should use it in as many cars as it can, just like Nissan with the VQ.

Great question. Look at the released Tahoe pictures of the interior. Now figure out if a bench seat would work with that setup? (Remember, a ton of Silverado/Sierras have bench seats)

The interior of the Pick-ups will be different than those of the SUV's!

Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

I'm sure the new 900 trucks will be great, and please the average consumer. The new 900 suvs should be arriving in dealerships sometime next month, hopefully. I heard my parents the other talk about the new 2007 Tahoe! My mom wants to get a new vehicle, my dad doesn't. But I did convince my mom to check out the new Tahoe when it comes out to dealerships.

I don't think that we should stop this argument. Its entertaining!
Seriously though, I think Hey Now should calm down. Your being far to critical of every little thing. That and while others accept what your saying, you can't be taught.

And James, try un-capitalizing every word in your posts. Its like I'm reading a new sentence after every word.

Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

has anyone seen a picture, or know of one online of a 2006 two wheel drive extended cab with the new 5.5' short bed, and explain to me why it looks so much higher than the other two wheel drive trucks.

I am not complaining- they should all be that hight, but why are they? Is this the new ride hight GM is going after? It's a couple of inches higher than the two wheel drive versions it was parked next to (the one I saw), slightly lower than a Z71. Or could this just be a new 4x4 version without the decals? Whatever it is, it looks pretty good. Nice new trim dimentions.

No, this one was a regular 1500, no HD. It had the 6 lug wheels. You can get the short short box from the crew cab on the extended cabs now.

Talking Re: GMT-900 Discussion #3

member12 ,
I can answer why they are higher. They have a torsion bar front end like a 4 wheel drive. To keep the back level, they even use a block above the spring to keep it level, or something. This would be a great truck to lower (if you are into such things) just crank down the torsion bar bolts, take out the spring block.
