ALOT of vehicles wish they could match it's numbers back then. That truck was hot!

I love the old lumbar air adjuster. Pretty sweet.....

Finally, can you say nosedive with emergency braking?? It reminds me of the old Mustangs!

Nosedive maybe, but once again... that's an incredibly short stopping distance. What the hell happened? I mean, that's better than most supercars can do today. Did manufacturers forget how to make brakes or was Motorweek's test driver the best that ever lived?

Our government requires us to be safe from ourselves, so our cars/trucks get heavier and heavier. ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRR we had the stig long before Jeremy!

Re: GMC Typhoon! Woot

the fastest 1/4 mile car in central-eastern Europe is a modded GMC Typhoon built by a company called VTG. They also made a 4X4 Corvette, Chevelle and Camaro.

I know! I was thinking the same thing! 103ft!!!??? With watching all of the other road tests, nothing even touched that. The Cavalier with the new cheaper Delco ABS was still like 118ft!

(I had to Google The Stig too )

HAha that Cavalier was a hoot wasn't it? It was like the only reason they tested it was for that new "inexpensive" ABS system. Worked well.

Re: GMC Typhoon! Woot

Lingenfelter Engineering sent a V-8 AWD S15 to a Car and Driver shootout.
It grenaded the trans before the end of the test. That is one of the Lingenfelter beefed 4L60Es. Supposedly it could run high-10s.

Re: GMC Typhoon! Woot

The braking thing brings up a good point. The 3700 lbs A5 stops in 114 ft. 137 ft for the 3400 lbs TSX (new one). How about 121 ft for the new Challenger SRT8 (4300 lbs) - or 114 ft for the 2007 STi that weighs under 3300 lbs. Hmmm....
