Re: Are GM HD trucks going to start competing with Ford HD trucks
68-87 Chevy trucks were the best trucks ever made in my opinion. I'd like to see GM pull out those old recipes and tweak them a little bit for today's market, we'd own 3/4 and 1 ton sales just like we own 1/2 tons today.

Awesome pics!... Trucks like that we're definitely "Like A Rock"! Back when Chevrolet was #1 and when you bought a new Chevy truck, you just bought the best.

When we first seen the front end parts we thought they were medium duty but they were in fact new Chevy HD parts. As a previous Super Duty owner (two trucks from 1998-2009) these parts "out-beef" the Ford's by a large margin. I don't know for sure but I would expect to see 4500 and 5500 trucks as part of the new HD product line. |

Re: Are GM HD trucks going to start competing with Ford HD trucks
A patron brought this up today.. We were talking about the Super Duty and he's a horse trainer. Goes to lots of rodeos and stuff like that... I said I saw a few of those on tv and noticed all of the Ford Truck stuff throughout that industry. I also mentioned what I read here earlier about the new HD parts etc.. for a new Chevy HD truck. He said "You guys know what you need?, George Strait".... "With the right truck and him as a Chevy truck spokesman again, you'd make big sales". I think he's right.

Re: Are GM HD trucks going to start competing with Ford HD trucks
I have a 05 2500 HD and I don't really think that the ride is that rough, although I havn't driven or rode in any of the Frods or Dodges as a comparison. I still would like to see a manual tranny option in the lineup though. I know that sales of manuals are not great but I don't think that it should penalize those of us who still want one. Now if I had to replace my Silverado I'd either have to find a used truck or go to another manufacturer. I have always been a loyal GM owner since my grandfather retired from GM and it saddens me that I'd have to switch manufacturers to buy a new vehicle. Now I don't actually use my truck as a work truck, it's my only vehicle so I do a bit of everything with it, however I do have an equipment trailer that I can put other pickups on and do it often enough and the 6.0l gasser handles it just fine. I'd be willing to trade it in if I could buy Duramax with a manual but I can't. Not to mention the 07 and later body style really doesn't do it for me. They look more like Nissan titans on steroids than they do Chevy's. the 03-06 body style really was quite nice with a lot of the 68-72 body style looks. What I really miss is my 70 C-10 that was my first truck. And of course the 73 to 87's were some of the most durable on the road (not counting the 73's with mostly rusted away from being made from cheap metal).

Re: Are GM HD trucks going to start competing with Ford HD trucks
Maybe torsion bars are a disappointment, but if the '11 has a higher capacity front axle, better grond clearance, and stronger steering linkage I am game. Ground clearance looks much improved in the picture. Is that dually a 4X4 or a 4X2?
