Future GMC Minivan

I plan on getting a family vehicle sometime in the future and I am a fan of old school vans and the Astro's with nice rims and lowerd a bit. I found this article and wondered if this is still in the works or not becasue I think I would wait for this!

Re: Future GMC Minivan

I think this needs a bit more gestation, but it does look promising. My guess, though, is that this sketch is actually what will be the Terrain.

Re: Future GMC Minivan

Well the Terrain looks huge compared to that sketch. I was hoping for something sporty but not an SUV. I might just have to get a used Astro and mod it.

I love the looks of this.

GM won't be making any mini-van's anytime soon. they have cancelled the programs awhile back.

Re: Future GMC Minivan

Damn. I guess I am going to have to customize something used.

I could always get my Uncles custom Chevy van but I don't think my wife would go for that. It's my inspiration for a custom van.

the article is dated in 2006. This came out as speculation before our 3 lambdas came out.

Re: Future GMC Minivan

I can definitely picture the Traverse as a mini-van.. I just hope Chevy does what Hyundai did with theirs - and bring the door handles close for that "suicide doors" look...

Re: Future GMC Minivan

Your uncle's van looks pretty sweet, Bad. When I was growing up my dad always had cargo vans around for the business (HVAC), so some of the first auto work I did was to those vans. Engine swaps and such were pretty easy. I always kinda thought about what I'd do to one if I ever got around to it.

Re: Future GMC Minivan

I think that a short wheelbase half ton Savannah Van with a high-mpg diesel engine would be perfect. The GM vans already handle better than the Sprinter, Econoline, and Ram Van (not sold anymore).

They need a small diesel that can get over 20mpg overall. The Duramax is great, but it's a bit bigger than what most work vans need...The 6.6L is more for a chassis cab box truck, really. It's overkill for a regular van.

Yes. I saw that a while ago, back before they officially killed the Lambda minivans and went crossover SUV only.

Re: Future GMC Minivan

I wonder if GM will revisit the minivan issue with gas prices the way they are.

Or will GM go back to the "original" minivan and actually produce a small van. We have seen hints at a Mazda 5 size minivan.

I was kinda wondering if GM would reconsider a Minivan again because of high gas prices. Maybe the minivan market is on the way back up.

Also I think if they make a minivan, Make the minivan look a minivan with awesome room and great quality. None of this SUVish looking front end.....

Thats right Make Trucks Trucks, SUV's SUV's, Let your Crossovers and Minivans be a little bit more upscale!!!

The Zafira is on it's way, or so I hear from my local Saturn Dealer.

I've heard that the Zafira is replacing the Outlook.
