    Chevy S10 Sport?

So my brother got himself a new (to him) truck today. It's a 1988 Chevrolet S10 Sport. Two questions:

    1. What was included in the "Sport" package?

    2. What kind of battery drain is normal with these things?

    Thanks in advance!

(Since it isn't my vehicle I won't post photos of it.)

    Tell that to S-10 Baja.

I don't know it off the top of my head, but I have a brochure from the late '80s at home I can reference later tonight. Should have information about the Sport package (I recall it being in there along with the Baja and Cameo packages).

    I do, ass!

All I know about the 88's is that it was the first year of the 4.3l 6cyl...which is a phenominal motor. My friend takes new V6 Mustangs in his auto trans, rusted out 90 S10 on the daily with that motor...which is pretty good with all things considered. But otherwise, I dont know a terribly great amount about the "Sport" package, like GMMediumDuty said, I think it was offered along side the Baja and Cameo packages...theres a member here who is on top of all the first gen S-series history, S10Baja..if he sees this thread I'm sure he'll make an apperance and might be able to toss some knowledge at you.

My brochure is also at home, but off the top of my head, I believe the Sport package for S10's and S10 Blazers included body color bumpers, black wheel lip moldings (not quite big enough to be called flares), special upholstery (with TRUCK repeated all down the seatback in big letters), a sport steering wheel, and maybe rally wheels and a few other things. There weren't actually any performance upgrades with the Sport package.

    Zoiks!
Good thing mine is only 16 years old!!!
I think the sport was simply a trim packade (not unlike my baja w/ the Tahoe package), but the sport was all blacked out?
I was unable to find it here:

I would love to reference my Chevy Literature, but it is all in storage as I am moving

The truck is two tone, black and silver. It does have the seats someone else described, the ones that say "Truck" over and over. The door panels are similar.

I'll have to go out in the morning to see if it has small fender "Flares".

MelvinJ what do you mean by "Rally wheels"?

if you post the vin i'll try and see if i can pull something up for you on the package, from what i remember the sport was the top of the line package at the time, base, tahoe, sport etc, more than likely upgrade wheels, seat material etc, kind of like the old cheyene, scottsdale, silverado designation on the full size.

Here is a link to an eBay listing that has a 1988 brochure for sale. It shows a picture of the black interior with the lettering on the seats.

The white one on the cover is the "back country" trim the predecessor to the Baja, the red one may be the sport, but the seats are !!! They are almost as cool as my baja seats, but only almost!!

What the hell does that have to do with anything? The OP started a thread in the GM Truck section because he has a few questions about a GM truck, so clearly he cares about this topic, and he is getting responses from other members.

MelvinJ what do you mean by "Rally wheels"?
The Rally wheels were only on 2WD's. They were the same ones used on 82+ Camaros and 80+ Monte Carlos/Malibus (and optional on all S10's since '82), with five silver-painted spokes, black plastic center caps, and stainless trim rings. 4WD Sports had the same wheel options as the other trim levels.

I'm looking at my '87 S10 brochure and I had pretty much thought of everything in my previous post except that the Sport two-tone paint (accent color on lower part of body) was included with the Sport package.

Edit: None of the brochures I've looked at mention the black plastic wheel moldings being part of the Sport package, and some Sports are pictured without them, so it looks like they were justa free-flow option.

Well I do. I purchased a 1988 S10 Sports Extended Cab 2 wheel drive with the 4.3 V 6 Vortex Motor. The paint was coming off but the interior is like new and actual miles 84,000. Eat your heart out guys I paid $2,000.00 for it and the new paint job is almost finished. The truck will be original except for the grill and and tail lights and they can be changed out. This 73 year old guy is going back to being 19.
