2011 Gray Green Metallic (Sierra) and Steel Green Metallic (Silverado)

How rare is this color on GM trucks of the year? I've only seen one in person and that was at the local Chevrolet dealership about mid 2011. It's pretty attractive in my opinion, particularly with the tan interior. Anyone have any knowledge on numbers?
    1968 Buick Skylark (Buick 350/4)
    1972 Chevrolet Corvette (350 LT-1)
2001 Chevrolet Tahoe LS (5.3 liter)
    1983 Chevrolet C/10 Silverado (350 Goodwrench)

    Former: 1989 GMC Suburban R1500 (5.7 liter)
1969 Buick Skylark Custom (Buick 350/2)
    1971 Buick Riviera (Buick 455)
    1971 Buick Electra 225 (Buick 455)

Without Buick, GM never would have existed.

What is the VIN# on those trucks? If you have it you could run it through a GM VIN decoder and get your answer.

Well, nvm, you need the RPO codes for it. Still, you should be able to find your answer through a RPO decoder at some sights. Good luck though as GM is pretty bad about releasing that information for mass market vehicles.
Just that time again to ignore certain people. I'm certain they will continue to try and instigate and antagonize while throwing up their arms saying they did nothing but are here on a civil basis. Not worth the time seeing how some just seem to know all.

I only saw it when the 2011's first came out, must have been a tougher sell, I'm betting most dealers re-ordered silver and just left it at that.

I too thought it was pretty cool, I had a 1999 Sierra "Pewter" which was silver with a tinge of brown, this reminded me of that same thing, except with green replacing the brown.

I also believe I saw it used on the Traverse, but can't be sure, for 2012 they have a gold-mist or something like that that (on the Lambda) is kind of an off-silver/gold, which is much better than the rental car beige/gold used all too often.

I don't believe paint color is within the VIN, knowing the RPO code is one thing, but how is that going to enable you to count all the trucks?

I also found this, might be even more rare than we thought!?

Effective 11/1/2010, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide:
    • Color and Trim section-(GGU) Gray Green Metallic, WA-718S changed footnote 2 to a new footnote 4 that reads
"Production temporarily ceased from January thru March 2011. Not available on Denali."
    • Color and Trim section-Added (GLF) Ice Blue Metallic, WA-819T it is "A" with all interior colors with a footnote 5 that reads
"Special Spring Promotional Color available January thru March 2011. Not available on Denali."

An RPO breakdown site allows you to do so. Its how the 4th gen F-bodys found out their production numbers.

Its a pain that GM doesnt release specifics like this for its NA operation. Take the GTO for instance. I know exactly how many were produced like mine. Mine is one of 123 made in 2006 with a manual, red interior and 18" wheels.

I like the green as well. I hope GM offers a green color for the upcoming new generation of trucks. Here's a video of the 2011 in green. Good looking truck!

Pretty rare indeed. I have only seen 4 since I picked up mine, but wouldn't you know it one is in my sub but an extended cab, I have the crew cab. I get allot of compliments. I know this does not answer your question, I just never see anything about my truck color.2011 silverado.jpg

I was wondering about this as well. The Ice Blue Metallic was pretty attractive, but I never saw a truck in that color, only the SUV's. It seems to have been extremely limited on the GMCs (don't remember what GMC called it) especially from my perusals on the internet. Makes sense that it wasn't available with the Denali.

I figured it would be really difficult to have a break down on such a mass market vehicle.

That video of the 2500 is really cool. I wouldn't mind having that truck.

I really wish GM would have a few more options color wise every year for their trucks. The basic silver, white, and beige only goes so far. They've had those colors for at least a decade now. These low run colors like steel green and ice blue are refreshing.

Cool post. Thanks for the photo. Nice truck. I'm guessing the color is just really rare.

I know it says Cadillac but it works with pretty much all GM vehicles. Not sure if it includes 2012s yet.

Skylark, if you don't mind sending me a private message with your contact information, I can investigate and see if I have any relevant details available for you. (Sending the last eight of a VIN may be helpful, as those above mentioned on this thread.)

Katie - I'll be purchasing a new Sierra next year, and I am HOPING that GM will bring back that gorgeous ice blue color, AND offer it on the new body style pickups!

Please pass that along as well . . ., and thanks!

OK - For one, that site doesn't even list GGU or GLF, so I typed another code we all know very well..... Z71, it returns:CHASSIS PACKAGE OFF ROAD OK great, now what? How is that going to tell us how many were built or how popular? (Which was Skylark's original question).

Thats why I said its difficult to know without GM releasing the information. I couldnt remember if the RPO code breakdown showed production numbers.

Write GM and see if they will release it. Thats the only way to truly know.
