Re: 2010 Hummer H3 to have a 3.6L V6 DI

I love the idea of a diesel V6, that would have a lot of low end torque, and would make it a powerful off roader if people who bought Hummers ever took them off road. I am glad the H3 is also getting a V6 is needs something more powerful then the inline 5.

The same power-plant that is in the HUMMER HX Concept and currently in the Cadillac CTS.

Man I hope GM builds the HX and keeps it looking close to the concept. Glad to see the I5 going away. Too little engine for too much truck.

I figured we would see the 3.6L in the H3 after they publizied it so much in the HX concept. Personally I think this is a good idea, and I think it may boost the H3 the bit it needs.

Re: 2010 Hummer H3 to have a 3.6L V6 DI

Condensing Engine lines is the best news. I owned a Atlas I6 in a Trailblazer and it was a fantastic engine. But with the Trailblazer going away, they will probably be getting rid of the Atlas along with its I5 and I4 derivatives. We will probably see the 2.4 Ecotec as the base in the Colorado/Canyon, the regular 3.6 as the upgrade and the 5.3 V8 as the Super.

Re: 2010 Hummer H3 to have a 3.6L V6 DI

I think they will get a press victory from being able to use the phrase "V6" but in reality, all the extra Hp the 3.6 makes is in the extra 1000rpm it revs higher then the I5.
I still think an adaptation of the 5L40 or 6L50 to the platform would be more benifitial to the actual performance dynamics and probably less expensive to do.
The problem is that a tranny change is a footnote as far as the press is concerned while an engine change is a headline.
