Re: 2009 Chevrolet Trucks Official Changes
They got rid of the base model Colorados, which was stupid. Another stupid move was to equip LS and LT model SUVs with Bluetooth but manual rearview mirrors. GM still has zero consistency.

Actually, it's just the 2-passenger third row seat that was deleted. The 3-passenger third row seat is still available. Same deal with all GMT900 SUVs.

I think it needs a smaller V6 other than the 3.6L, but what do they have other than the value engineered engines?

Re: 2009 Chevrolet Trucks Official Changes
You are right, they upped the rating this year. I am surprised that the V8 doesn't get a bump to an even 6,000 lbs.

I was looking at a 08 I5 Canyon in the showroom of the dealership the other day. It had a sticker on it's bumper that showed a tow rating of 5500lbs with a weight carrying hitch and 6500 lbs with a WD hitch. I was suprised to see these numbers since I've never seen them mentioned in any documentation.

Will the 4.3L V6 still be available on the half-tons? I kinda like that engine.

Re: 2009 Chevrolet Trucks Official Changes
That's great news. I will order my 6.2L flex fuel suburban LTZ this summer. I have 3 E85 stations w/in 10 minutes of the house. I was skeptical of using E85 because of the demand it would put on the environment, but thanks to GMI articles on improvments with bio fuel production, I think we're moving in the right direction. I will definitely fill up with made in the USA fuel.

Let us know what kind of mpg you are getting with the E85. In addition, how the power feel like using the E85. Thanks. ![]() |

Good to see they have the V-8 in the Canyon now. I like that Avalanche a lot too.

Re: 2009 Chevrolet Trucks Official Changes
I could see myself in new V-8 Colorado once my '05 wears out.

Re: 2009 Chevrolet Trucks Official Changes
I like most of the changes, but I will echo what most have said here; except for the new V-8 option, I just don't see much to get excited about the Colorado. I like the front end look when it first came out, but now having it around for this long, and GM seeing that the Ranger and Tacoma beating them hands down, the just refuse to do anything to make it better or to try to change it's look.
Other than that, I am glad to see that GM is offering Bluetooth on most everything and most every trim level, but still 1-2 years behind most companies though. And the 6 speed and 6.2L in the Silverado's. But God forbid should they put it in the Reg. Cab. I would like to see most if not all options open to all the trim levels. Make thing avalible if you want to sell more. |
