That's the intention. Looks like about every axle ratio has been decreased one step (3.73 to 3.42, 3.42 to 3.08, etc.). With the axle ratio changes and six-speed automatic transmission, we should hopefully see increases in the EPA ratings.

I guess they are using the 6L80's gear ratios to make up some of the slack with the lower numerical gears in the rear.
V8 in the Colorado is cool, still attached to the 4L65...
IMO...I would just get a Silvy with a 5.3 for probably a touch bit more money.

Something that's been offered as a dirt cheap option since the new '07s came out, basically a torque rod in the lower tailgate/hinge area that makes it lighter to open and close. Others have had similar things, too, and standard.

For what they charge extra, I never did understand why it wasn't in all of them standard...but so be it.

Hmm...after looking a little closer, I'm a little less impressed with the powertrain changes to the Silverado.

The 6.2L V-8 is only available on crew cab LTZ models. The 6-speed automatic transmission is included on crew cabs with the 6.2, 6.0 and 5.3 engines, and on extended cabs with 6.0 engines. All other models still have the 4-speed. Still no 6.0 in regular cabs.

Toyota lets you get their 381-hp 5.7L V-8 and 6-speed on a base regular cab. I bet the new Ram will let you get the 380-hp Hemi and 5-speed on every model like they do now. GM has the most powerful engine available in a half-ton, but continues to insist on handicapping their models because of a perceived hierarchy.

Yeah, while the SUV's got the 6-speed across the board...the 1/2 ton trucks are still apparently in roll-out phase.

Capacity has increased, but maybe they still couldn't do THAT many, and thought the SUV's more important, and to give the trucks just a couple of trims so equipped until....next year, again.

Why would they get rid of Desert Brown Metallic? It's a popular color and happens to be my favorite. Thanks for taking away one of the more distinctive and modern colors.
