Me too. I wish they would have did something with the K5 concept a few years back.

Re: 1973-1987/1991 GM Trucks/SUV Picture Thread

In 1975 they went to the 'cab' version. Pickup Van and 4 wheel drive named it four wheeler of the year - they also introduced the 400cid engine that year and revised the suspension to ride softer.

The roof thing sounds cool in theory, but in practice it was awful. As mentioned it was heavy, but if you ever took it off, it would leak in the rain. When going off road the body flexed and the windshield header bolts would pop off and fall on your head.

Awesome post. I bought the tapes of that blazer buildup!! I loved that show. Too bad when it turned to Spike Tv, they changed their show format, and no longer sell the tapes.

Re: 1973-1987/1991 GM Trucks/SUV Picture Thread

Here is a cell phone photo ( sorry for the quality ) of my 79 4X4 chevy. It is an original 350/4-speed truck with the part-time transfer case. Probably the best truck ever made. It is "bulletproof" to say the least. I still get a smile from ear to ear when I kick the 4bbl carb open and listen to the dual exhaust with glasspacks roar. There is no better sound on earth than a smallblock chevy V8.

Not as nice as yours smith7829, but someday I hope to do the same frame off restoration.

p.s. in the background is my dads bone stock '77 GMC shorty 2wd with a 250 inline six and a three speed manual on the column. Oh yeah, it has 66,000 original miles on it. Extremely rare truck.

Is it a Sierra? I notice the Deluxe Two-Tone and usually you only find those on a Sierra. If it's a Sierra it's definately rare with that drivetrain.

We need pics!!!

Sierra was the base (i.e. "Custom Deluxe" at Chevy), then there was High Sierra (like Scottsdale) Sierra Classic (Cheyenne) and Sierra Grande (Silverado).

Here is mine. 1978 K10. 454HO, SM465, NP205, 14FF, Q78x16 Super Swamper TSL, 4:56 gears, rear Detroit Locker and front Detroit TrueTrac. The current project on this rig is a compiling a concoction of Marine L29 and RamJet 502 fuel injection parts to finally get some fuel injection action going on in this thing. Carburators suck...especially at 12,000 ft elevation.

Thanks! I spend all my lunch money on it. hehe. Nah, I want to keep it all GM. I got a smoken deal on a brand new GM Marine L29 EFI intake and will be running it on a 12499117 RamJet 502 wiring harness and MEFI 4 engine controller with a special calibration file from AZ Speed and Marine to match my engine specs. MSD has a similar harness and MEFI 4 controller but for a lot more money. Also planning to use the new Quick Fuel Techologies mechanical fuel pump designed for EFI. That should be interesting. I am still in parts hunter/gatherer mode collecting parts so I don't freak out my wife with blowing too much money at one whack. Should have it all done by the end of the winter.
